Today marks 150 days since Donald Trump was sworn into office, but you wouldn't think that by how the GOP leadership simply refuses to pass signature legislation.
They had eight years to prepare for a Republican President and they squandered it. Want to know why? Because the GOP leadership never wanted to be a ruling party. They never actually wanted to have to make good on all of those promises they made.
This falls entirely on Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. Both are likely good people. But they have been horrible party leaders. They have squandered the first 150 days of the Trump Presidency and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Now, they want to take the entire month of August off...
Let's talk about some of the GOP's massive failures.
Earlier this year, Republicans in Congress caved to the Left and refused to fund President Trump's border wall. Trump asked for a billion and they gave him nothing. The GOP thought that would be the end of it. But, Pres. Trump was able to find the money to start the design process. We are now just a few weeks away from the design finalists being revealed to the country and what is the GOP doing? They are drafting budget bills that once again defund the entire border wall project. That's right, not only did the GOP defund Trump's border wall back in April, but now their next budget draft includes no funding for new walls either...
No border wall, no refugee shutdown, no healthcare reform, no tax reform, no defunding the United Nations, no expansion of gun rights, no shutdown of sanctuary cities... I can literally spend all day writing the list of their broken promises.
All we ever heard from Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan is that as soon as We the People elected a Republican President, they would get to work taking this country back. We held up our end of the deal, but we're still waiting for them to 'get to work.' The fact is that we will never get the conservative governance we were promised from these people. They simply aren't cut out for this.
They spent years promising immediate action if ever given the chance, yet they've fallen silent after the American people gave them control of both Congress and the White House.
President Trump is hard at work. Even while the GOP stands idly by while Liberals target him with the worst witch hunt of our lifetime, the President is working hard to accomplish what he can on his own. Just last week, he rolled back Obama's charity program to Cuba's communist government.
Pres. Trump ordered Congress to get to work passing his signature agenda items. He even instructed Congress to dismantle the filibuster in order to start putting bills on his desk. Do you know what Mitch McConnell said? "No."
You need to ask yourself a simple question: Did you vote for this?
Is this inaction what you voted for? Did you spend all this time working to claw the country back from Obama and the Democrats just to watch Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell squander this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
If you fought so hard for this, then by all means, soak it all in.
But if you want more and if you expect better, then rise up and demand it!
I am sure that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are perfectly nice people. They are just not what the country and party needs at this particular moment in history.
Paul Ryan infamously promised the Republican caucus back in October that he would never support Donald Trump or his policies. Is it really any surprise that he refuses to schedule votes on all of these important issues? This can't be as good as it gets...
We only get one shot at this. We only get one shot at restoring the country to conservative governance and constitutional principles. Now that we're 150 days into this "one shot," it is clear that the current GOP leadership will not be able or willing to get the job done.
If the next 950 days are like the last 150, then we will have wasted the best opportunity in our lifetime to restore American greatness.
I refuse to stand by and watch these clowns drag us down. I'm taking a stand.
Will you?
