Fellow Conservative,

This is the moment we have been waiting for. Right now, Republican Members of Congress are meeting in Philadelphia to discuss the legislative agenda over the next 100 days.

Thanks to YOUR activism, legislation has been added to the calendar next week that would dismantle Barack Obama’s elderly American gun ban!

As you remember, Barack Obama announced a string of gun control executive orders about a year ago. While most of them weren’t worth the paper they were written on, one order in particular, if implemented, would disarm hundreds of thousands of Social Security beneficiaries.

Over the past year, the Social Security Administration worked around the clock to implement the executive order. And they succeeded, rolling it out just before Obama left office.

Essentially, they have transferred almost the entire database of disabled Social Security beneficiaries into the FBI’s firearm background check system. Any elderly American who is on file as having a friend or family member helping them manage their finances will now be prohibited from owning firearms.

If they have a gun permit or concealed carry license, then they will have their guns confiscated. If they try to purchase a gun at a gun store, they will be denied and actually be committing a felony. If left in place, this executive order would disarm hundreds of thousands of people.

And the worst part is… it is all legal. There is a loophole within the law that allows the SSA to label someone as mentally defective if they check a box asking for help managing their finances.

Only Congress can undo Obama’s elderly gun ban and because of your activism, they are moving in that direction. But passage is anything but assured!

We’re almost there! Help take this across the finish line by bombarding Congress with demands to REPEAL Barack Obama’s Social Security gun ban!

There are plenty of reasons for a Social Security beneficiary to need help with their finances.

Often times, they have reached the age when they are no longer comfortable driving, so they assign a family member to their account who can deposit benefits checks or pick up their prescriptions from the pharmacy.

Others simply have a horrible track record getting their bills paid on time and just need someone who can help them meet all the due dates.

None of this has anything to do with someone’s ability to own a firearm for self-defense. Nowhere in the 2nd Amendment does it say that the right to keep and bear arms only applies to those who show financial literacy…

I am always reminded of a story from this past year. Eddie Smith, a 69-year old disabled Vietnam veteran, heard a noise in his house one night and went to investigate it. Being bound to a wheelchair, Smith brought along his pistol just in case his house was being burglarized.

Sure enough, a home invader jumped out from the shadows and attacked Smith. Luckily, he was able to get one shot off to defend himself. When police arrived, they found his assailant dead in the driveway.

This Obama executive order targets people like Eddie Smith who might need a little help managing their affairs but are perfectly capable of defending themselves and owning firearms responsibly.

That is why Congress is moving early next week to vote on legislation to reverse this completely. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo has just re-introduced the Social Security Beneficiary Second Amendment Rights Protection Act. This bill would undo it all and prohibit the Social Security Administration from using the assignment of a “representative payee” as an excuse for disarmament.

Congress has agreed to “review” the regulation. Ultimately, we will need a majority in the House and a super majority in the Senate in order to repeal it.

You have helped get us this far. You have helped to take an obscure executive action in the SSA and bring it to the forefront of Congressional politics.

But there is no prize for almost repealing the gun ban. It is now or never!

Send your FaxBlast to Congress and DEMAND that they vote to repeal Barack Obama’s Social Security gun ban!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
