Back in April, the Social Security Administration announced a proposed rule change to add its list of disabled beneficiaries to the firearm background check system.
The President announced this executive order around this time last year. His goal is to take millions of Social Security beneficiaries and use technicalities to rescind their Second Amendment rights.
We have reached the end of the line. The SSA just listed this regulation as a “Final Rule.” This means we are literally days away from this being completely implemented.
The White House is pushing through 98 different executive orders before the inauguration. This is one of them.
If Obama implements this new regulation, hundreds of thousands of elderly Americans will have their names added to the prohibited persons list in the FBI firearm background check database (NICS). If they try to purchase a new gun, they will be denied and if they have firearms registered to their name, they will receive a confiscation notice in the mail.
This is a very real threat. The 2nd Amendment rights of hundreds of thousands of Americans now depend on Congressional action.
This executive order targets Social Security beneficiaries who have what is known as “representative payees.” Essentially, these beneficiaries checked a box on a form so that a family member or friend would be approved to help them with finances.
Some people just need a family member to deposit their checks or pick up their groceries. Others just need help making sure the bills get paid on time.
The Obama administration is using a technicality in the law to reclassify these people who need help with their finances and label them as “mentally defective” and possessing "subhuman intelligence."
This has always been about disarming as many people as possible. Now that Obama is just seven weeks away from being kicked out of the White House, this executive order has been prioritized for implementation.
Once these names are added to the background check database, it will be next to impossible to remove them en-masse.
I am always reminded of the story of 69-year-old wheelchair-bound Vietnam Veteran Eddie Smith. One night earlier this year, Smith heard what sounded like a break-in. He grabbed his pistol and went to investigate the noise.
The intruder lunged out of the shadows and attacked Smith. Luckily, the veteran had his firearm and was able shoot and kill his attacker.
If Obama’s executive order is allowed to go into effect, this man likely will be disarmed.
This is President Obama’s last chance to push through his gun control agenda. This is happening, whether we like it or not, and if successful, will not be easily undone.
We have just this ONE chance to stop this!
There is already legislation written to put a stop to this. The Social Security Beneficiary 2nd Amendment Rights Protection Act would prohibit Obama’s executive order from moving forward.
This bill has languished in Congress since last September. It has 152 co-sponsors and likely enough support to pass, but hasn’t been prioritized by GOP leadership.
It is literally now or never. If Obama successfully adds hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans to the prohibited persons list, it will be next to impossible to get them off. They would have to petition individually to be removed from the database.
In the meantime, they would be stripped of their right to keep and bear arms.
This is Obama’s Hail Mary pass. He failed at passing meaningful gun control. This is his last chance.
And this is your last chance to stop him!
