On Friday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) formally announced that he is introducing a Constitutional amendment to implement term limits for Congress.
This “Drain the Swamp” amendment would ensure that when people arrive in Washington DC, they work for the American people, not for their own re-election. That is the problem we face now, especially in the House of Representatives.
Senator Cruz made the announcement alongside Rep. Ron Desantis (R-FL).
"On Election Day, the American people made a resounding call to 'drain the swamp' that is modern Washington,” they declared.”
"Passing term limits will demonstrate that Congress has actually heard the voice of the people.”
Mitch McConnell came out earlier this year and said that there would be no vote of term limits. Of course, the Senior Republican Senator who has been in office for 31+ years would oppose term limit legislation…
With your help, we delivered 260,000 faxes to Congress demanding that they Drain the Swamp and start with term limits.
Now, less than a month later, we have a Constitutional amendment being introduced…
Mitch McConnell will continue to fight against this common sense proposal. He will do everything in his power to make sure this amendment never sees the light of day.

As I said, Mitch McConnell has been a Senator for 31 years. He was first elected in 1985.
What new ideas could he possibly bring to the table?
Washington is broken because of the people who make the decisions within our government. Millions of Americans voted to give the GOP control of all three branches of government because Donald Trump promised to get rid of the corruption that is dragging us down.
A key part of this plan is the implementation of term limits for Congressmen and Senators. The logic behind it is simple: if the people running government are responsible for its problems, then it makes sense to limit the amount of time they can be in office.
So you can imagine my surprise when I heard that McConnell was refusing to put term limit legislation up for a vote in the Senate…
Well, we will now have our bill, not just to enshrine term limits into the law, but to amend the Constitution!
This is within our grasp. Passing Congressional term limits is possible. Those Congressmen and Senators who have made a fortune on their service, like Mitch McConnell, will fight us tooth and nail to hold onto their power.
They will fail. It is up to us to make sure they fail.
We are closer than ever to dismantling the Washington permanent political class...
