We have covered this topic before, but even after Congress has intervened, it is still happening. The Obama administration is using every technicality possible to strip US veterans of their Second Amendment rights.
There are at least 143,000 US Veterans who are barred from owning firearms. For some of them, this is warranted. But for others, they are being unjustly denied the Constitutional rights they sacrificed so much to defend
Here’s the real kicker: 99% of all Americans entered into the NICS background check system as “mentally defective” were added by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). That is a ridiculous statistic.
Stop the Obama Administration from stripping Veterans of their gun rights!
Now, if someone is legitimately deemed to be mentally defective, that would be one thing. But that isn’t what is happening here.
Federal law requires agencies like the VA to determine “whether a veteran is a danger to himself, herself, or others” before stripping their Second Amendment rights.
But the VA is doing something different. They are labeling people as “incompetent” and the number one reason for veterans being labeled incompetent is that they can’t manage their finances on their own.
That’s right; veterans who need help paying their bills and their taxes are being stripped of their Second Amendment rights.
Let’s be honest… who doesn’t need help with bills and taxes? I know I do. Does that mean that I should have my guns taken away? Of course not!
But the Obama administration isn’t going after everyday citizens. They’re going after trained combat veterans; the ones most trained to resist tyranny.
For goodness sake, these are the men and women who have sacrificed the most to defend the Constitution and now they’re being told that the rights they fought to defend no longer apply to them…
This is UNACCEPTABLE!
And some in Congress are starting to feel the same way. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is leading the charge against this unconstitutional Obama administration practice.
“It’s disturbing to think that the men and women who dedicated themselves to defending our freedom and values face undue threats to their fundamental Second Amendment rights from the very agency established to serve them,” Grassley declared.
But he needs your help! He needs you to reach out to your Congressman and Senators and DEMAND that our combat veterans have their Second Amendment rights restored!
For years, the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act sat and collected dust on Harry Reid’s desk. Now that the GOP controls Congress, this bill must be introduced and passed into law!
