When President Trump was elected last year, Mitch McConnell sent the President-Elect a stern warning: don't even think about imposing term limits.
You see, McConnell has been in office for almost 33 years and Ted Cruz's term limit amendment would kick out every Senator after they serve 12 years.
Ted Cruz has joined up with Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis to introduce what they're calling the 'Drain the Swamp amendment.' This resolution would amend the United States Constitution to limit Senators to two 6-year terms and Congressmen to three 2-year terms.
Mitch McConnell threatened there would be consequences if Ted Cruz introduced the measure. No one said that we would be able to drain the swamp without some of the swamp creatures biting back at us.
Ted Cruz did his part. He introduced the amendment in the United States Senate. Rep DeSantis introduced it into the House. Now it is up to YOU to force a vote!

We can debate about how long we think those limits should be, but right now Senator Mitch McConnell is refusing to even let Congress debate it.
Democrat John Conyers represents Michigan's 13th Congressional District. He has been a Congressman since 1965, meaning that he has held the same seat, uninterrupted, for 52 years and 313 days. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have served in Congress for just under 43 years. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), who is being prosecuted for corruption, has been in Congress for almost 25 years.
What good new ideas could these people possibly have?
People don’t run for re-election 26 times to serve their constituents. They do so to serve themselves.
That is what Ted Cruz’s amendment is all about: restoring the United States Congress to a service model, not one centered on personal-enrichment.
Mitch McConnell is blocking this amendment from moving forward. He has been blocking this resolution for weeks.
It's time to bust through and FORCE Congress to debate and pass term limits!
Ted Cruz is begging you to "hold us accountable." Don't let Congress get away with burying this.
What we've seen is that the Congressmen and Senators who have made a fortune clinging to power will do anything to stop term limits from becoming a reality. They will fight us tooth and nail.
And they will lose. As long as Conservative men and women stand together, these swamp creatures will lose.
We have a real opportunity to dismantle Washington DC's permanent political class.
