Remember when Barack Obama announced his gun control orders earlier this year and everyone thought it was just talk? Well, Obama is committed to making his anti-gun dreams a reality.
Today, the White House is announcing its plans to force so-called “Smart Guns” into the marketplace. Not only will they be compelling law enforcement officers to rely on untested technology to do their jobs, but Obama’s executive order will literally force entire states to buy nothing but Smart Guns.
This is the first step towards the left’s goal of making every gun in the country a “smart gun.” Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) tried desperately to push his Handgun Trigger Safety Act through Congress, which would have mandated smart gun technology in every civilian gun in the country.
If the bill had passed, within two years, every handgun sold in the United States would have been forced to possess either fingerprinting technology or some other means of verifying the identity of the shooter. Three years after passage, Markey's gun control bill would force ALL civilian owned guns to be retrofitted with the technology.
He failed. Not to be undone, now Obama is moving the effort forward by executive order!
As we have covered before, forcing smart guns into the marketplace will have catastrophic results.
The State of New Jersey has an old law on the books that requires only smart guns to be sold in state when the technology becomes commercially available. The minute a smart gun hits the market, the process starts to force the state’s firearm dealers to sell nothing but smart guns. You won't be able to buy a new gun without this technology and lawmakers have admitted that their plan is to force this technology on all firearms retroactively.
Similar laws are being proposed in states like New York, Massachusetts, and California and you can guarantee that if Obama forces these “smart” guns onto the market, more liberal states will mimic New Jersey.
For years, the Left has tried to get the ball rolling on smart guns. Not only do they want to bring these guns to market, but also they want to literally force this technology onto the American people.
This movement is dangerous. If someone wants to trust their life to a complex fingerprint reading mechanism, that is his or her prerogative. However, how dare Obama and the Left try to force all citizens to use this technology? There is a reason that the military and police are staunchly against this technology. Why? Because when the military and police depend on firearms to save their lives, they refuse to add vulnerable electronics to that equation!
The technology simply hasn't been tested and fingerprint technologies are too prone to failure. That has led other legislators to pursue other means of creating personalized firearms. Another way is to force gun owners to wear a watch or ring that emits weak radio frequency. When the gun is within arm's reach of an individual wearing the watch, it can be fired. A German company produces a gun with this watch technology and it retails in California for over $2000 (which is five times more expensive than the leading non-personalized alternative).
This technology can also be sabotaged. If the government, or any well-equipped individual, wants to stop you from using your smart gun, they can block the signal. I don’t know about you, but if I need to use my gun for self-defense, I want it to go “bang.”
Americans shouldn’t have to worry about dying batteries, sweaty palms, software failure, or sabotage when their lives are on the line!
Obama is announcing his executive order on smart guns today! He is starting with the police and law enforcement agencies and once the guns enter the market, he and his allies will be able to force these “smart” guns on the rest of the American people.
Don’t let this happen!
When Senator Markey introduced his Handgun Trigger Safety Act into Harry Reid’s Senate, all of the pundits expected it to pass. With your help, we sent 70,000 faxes to Congress and killed the bill on arrival. It went nowhere.
Two years later, Obama is trying to finish what the leftists started. If Obama can force just one person to buy a smart gun, he will trigger laws that will force millions of people to buy these smart guns.
They are expecting you not to be paying attention. They are counting on you to be disconnected from this.
Throughout history, tyrants have used the public’s apathy to roll back their rights. By the time the people realized what was happening, it was too late.
I refuse to suffer the same fate and I hope you and other like-minded Americans will fight back as well!
