Last week, the GOP leadership in the House of Representatives finally bowed to the pressure and held a vote on H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This legislation would force states to start accepting out-of-state carry permits. It makes sense, since the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms applies nationwide, not just in someone's home state.
But the bill actually does something even more. It grants reciprocity to non-resident carry permits.
I used to live in New Jersey. I shudder every time I think about it. The State of New Jersey has what is called a "may-issue" concealed carry law. That means that if you apply, the police chief may issue you a permit. They can deny you at any time, for any reason at all.
For this reason, many NJ gun owners get Utah or Florida non-resident carry permits. That way, they can carry across the country when they leave New Jersey.
Rep. Richard Hudson's bill would make it so that people living behind the gun control Iron Curtain in states like California, New York, and New Jersey could use non-resident permits to bear arms in their own state. It would create a workaround and ensure that liberal states can never again block residents from exercising their right to bear arms.
Now that this bill has passed the House, it is on to the Senate. However, GOP leaders in both chambers are already negotiating and considering dropping the non-resident permit clause all together.
These cowards are actually considering leaving 26% of Americans out to dry.
Tell them, 'Don't You Dare!'
Force Congress to send the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to President Trump's desk as-written! Send your instant FaxBlast and DEMAND immediate passage of this common-sense pro-gun bill!
For far too long, liberal states have been allowed to infringe on Americans' constitutional rights without repercussions. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act puts an end to that.
Not only would liberal states be forced to honor visitors' 2nd Amendment rights, but their own residents would finally have a pathway to defend themselves in public.
Not surprisingly, Democrats are terrified. The schemes that they've been building for over a century are about to come crashing down. New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez -- who should be in jail himself -- said this week that anytime someone brings their gun into New Jersey, the State should "throw 'em in prison for five years."
A sitting Senator actually advocated jailing people over them exercising their Constitutional rights.
Here is the important developments. The House version of the bill allows Blue state residents to bypass their anti-gun state governments and carry using non-resident permits. The Senate version of the bill does NOT include this provision.
Spineless GOP cowards are actually considering leaving Blue state residents in chains. They are actually considering dropping the non-resident permit protection and leaving 26% of all Americans to fend for themselves. This is unacceptable.
Together, we got this bill to the floor of the House of Representatives. Thanks to all of your hard work, it passed the House with 15 votes more than it needed (including six Democrat votes).
But the fight is not over. We need to continue to pressure Congress not only to pass the bill in the Senate, but also to make sure that these GOP cowards do not succeed in watering it down!
Don't let the GOP water it down! Send your instant FaxBlast and FORCE Congress to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act as-is!
We have never been closer to seeing the 2nd Amendment restored. Tens of millions of law abiding Americans living in blue states have gone their whole lives without having 2nd Amendment rights.
We must make sure that the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act does not collect dust waiting for a vote in the Senate.
President Trump has promised that when it hits his desk, he will sign it. But the fight for us isn't over until we get it there!
A right delayed is a right denied. Send your instant FaxBlast to Congress and FORCE them to put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto President Trump's desk now!
No more waiting...
