After more than a year, the Mueller witch hunt has now wasted 17 million in taxpayer funds. That is according to newly released filings from the Department of Justice.
In that time, he has found ZERO evidence that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians. Instead, he has expanded into whether or not President Trump broke the law when he exercised his Article II powers and fired James Comey. Now, we just learned that he is investigating Trump for a conversation the President had with Jeff Sessions asking him to un-recuse himself.
Mueller isn't investigating crimes. He is trying to turn the President's constitutional powers into crimes.
That is how desperate Mueller has become. He and his team are building the argument that even though the Constitution allows the President to fire cabinet members at any time, for any reason, that power shouldn't apply to Trump.
This is the same argument the left tried to make on the travel ban. Even though Obama and Jimmy Carter used the President's power to cut off immigration, Trump shouldn't be allowed to use it because he's racist (or something?).
I wanted to let you know how Mueller is spending your taxdollars.
Remember Jeannie Rhee? The lawyer who represented the Clinton Foundation in 2015 and 2016 during the email investigation? Keep paying your taxes, because she's collecting a full government salary in this witch hunt. Not only that, but Rhee defended Obama advisor Ben Rhodes during the Benghazi hearings.
Remember Andrew Weissmann? The DOJ official who actually attended Hillary Clinton's election night "victory" party? He joined the Mueller team is now the lead prosecutor going against all of Trump's allies. Not for collusion, mind you. They're digging into all of Trump's aides and prosecuting them for everything they find. Weissmann is now collecting a government salary to try to take down Trump. When Obama holdover Sally Yates defied Trump and refused to enforce the travel ban, Weissmann emailed her to tell her that he was "so proud."
All told, there are no less than 13 hard left Democrats working for Mueller's witch hunt. They've wasted 17 million on this nonsense and there is absolutely no end in sight. They will investigate Trump until they find something -- anything -- they can charge him with.
Trump lashed out at Mueller today on Twitter.
"17 million spent, it's a scam investigation. Americans are being worked. We now know there was Russian collusion, with Russians and the Democrats. The Mueller team is stacked with anti-Trumpers, who actually represented Clinton people."
I just received word from a Congressional source that there is going to be a bombshell released on Monday. Both Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell will announce they are cancelling most of Congress' August vacation so that they can finish working on this year's budget.
Conservatives were demanding this. Part of the reason is that they are making a play to defund Mueller's out of control witch hunt.
Now that the leadership has caved and agreed to actually pass a budget this year, the Freedom Caucus is making its move.
I have talked about it before. It is called the DeSantis Amendment. It is essentially one sentence long and designed to be slipped into the Department of Justice's appropriations bill. It blocks any and all taxpayer funds from being used on the Mueller probe.
We have been fighting for this for the last year. This amendment would literally pull the rug out from under Mueller and make sure that these hopelessly biased anti-Trump investigators aren't allowed to collect a government paycheck.
We got the leadership to cave on holding the vote. Now it is time to push the DeSantis Amendment through and shut this witch hunt down for good!
We have our opening. Mueller and the DOJ were forced to release their budget to the public. We now know just how much they are wasting on this sham investigation.
And for the first time, we have a pathway to shutting this down.
Trump is demanding that Congress rein Mueller in. The Freedom Caucus is making a push to force this amendment into the next round of spending bills.
But they need YOUR help to get this across the finish line!
