We all remember the Fast and Furious scandal. The Obama administration allowed Mexican cartels to illegally buy guns in America. ATF agents were supposed to seize the weapons before they were smuggled into Mexico, but they ultimately failed to do so.
Within weeks, these Obama crime guns were showing up at crime scenes on both sides of the border.
The most infamous crime was the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry with a semi-automatic rifle that was traced back to Obama's failed gun-walking plan.
Congress launched an investigation, which is where things got interesting. Then-Attorney General Eric Holder refused to cooperate with Congress' investigation by deciding to withhold evidence. He claimed "executive privilege" for a whole host of documents, including emails between him and his mother...
So, Congress held Eric Holder in Contempt of Congress. He was never prosecuted because he was the man who got to decide whether to prosecute the case. Of course Eric Holder didn't prosecute himself...
Fast forward to today. On President Trump's own insistence, the withheld Fast and Furious documents are now being delivered to Congress. But don't clap just yet...
We are hearing from multiple sources that those in the GOP leadership are considering blocking these documents from being fully released!
These are the same people -- Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and their allies -- who refused to impeach Eric Holder when he was caught hiding documents.
These are the same people that stopped Conservatives from really going after criminals like Lois Lerner and Hillary Clinton.
In their mind, it's time to move on. It's time to forget about the crimes of the previous administration and just move forward.
Tell that to Brian Terry's surviving family...
There is a push right now within the Republican Party to stop these documents from ever seeing the light of day.
We are literally talking about evidence of crimes. The Obama administration allowed drug cartels to traffic weapons. The GOP has no problem letting the Trump-Russia witch hunt continue, but the thought of actually holding real Obama criminals accountable disgusts them.
But it's not over yet. There are still Conservatives in Congress who are fighting for this.
Congressmen like Trey Gowdy and Jim Jordan are still fighting, but they need your help!
Don't let the cowards in the leadership sweep this under the rug!
The Fast and Furious scandal was one of the first issues that we ever focused on. It was our community of close to a million like-minded Conservatives that held Congress' feet to the fire and forced them to investigate this in the first place.
It is hard to believe that is has been close to a decade since this scandal first broke.
Aside from perhaps our campaigns against Obamacare, this is the longest running issue advocacy campaign we have EVER run.
Before leaving Congress, Rep. Jason Chaffetz asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions to release the withheld documents and that request was rejected.
President Trump intervened and made this happen.
Please, don't let the cowards in Congress sweep this under the rug. Demand full transparency. Demand justice!
