It seems like these days, we need any feel-good story we can get. This is definitely one of them.

Thomas Gunderson was shot in the leg during the attack on a Las Vegas country music festival. He just happened to be recuperating in the hospital that President Donald Trump visited Wednesday.

When he heard that President Trump was coming to his room, Gunderson ignored his doctor's instruction and stood to greet the President and First Lady Melania Trump.



The best part is his reasoning, which he included on his Facebook post.

"I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand! There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!"


Thomas Gunderson is a great brave American. If only some of the players in the NFL were watching, maybe they'd learn a thing or two about staying standing...
