Despite all of the Fake News that the media and Democrats have been pushing out to delegitimize Trump, the President has been hard at work dismantling the "achievements" of the Obama administration. That includes defunding and withdrawing from the United Nations' Paris Climate Treaty.
Barack Obama had no right to commit the United States to this treaty without Congressional approval. The only leg he had to stand on was the argument that the treaty was "non-binding." The Obama administration argued that the US could leave at any time, so it wasn't a bona fide treaty. They never expected Trump to win so they never gave a thought to a future President withdrawing from the treaty.
Now that President Trump has done just that, we are seeing just how crazed the Left and its Globalist allies have become.
Trump offered to renegotiate the terms of the Paris Climate Agreement and the European Union just unanimously rejected that offer. Instead, they and the United Nations are planning a massive retaliation effort against the Trump administration. They just voted 534-88 to not only make the treaty legally binding, but to punish any country that withdraws.
So much for "non-binding," huh?
Because Obama sent a letter to the United Nations last year pledging the United States would adopt "every article and clause" of the Paris Climate Treaty, they are arguing that Trump cannot withdraw from it. One of those articles is Article 28, which dictates that the United States cannot withdraw until November 2020.
The fact of the matter is that this was always a binding treaty. It was always unconstitutional for Obama to sign, finance, and implement it without Congressional ratification. But it took President Trump trying to dismantle it for the Leftists to show their hand. Now that they are pulling out all the stops to prevent the President from withdrawing, that proves Barack Obama's decision to sign it was completely illegal and unconstitutional.
The European Union isn't even trying to hide their intentions anymore. Their vote to make the Paris Agreement legally binding could force President Trump to reinstate the radical climate change executive orders that he had dismantled last month. It could force the United States to continue surrendering billions to the UN and its bogus climate programs.
They realize that their lie has been revealed, so they went public and voted to make the treaty binding...
And this gives Congress an opening. All it takes to completely withdraw the US from Obama and the UN's radical climate treaty is for Congress to void the signing. One vote is all that is needed, saying that Congress never authorized Obama's signature.
Not only would that void the agreement, but it would prevent future Presidents from re-entering it and surrendering American sovereignty without Congressional approval!
