House and Senate Democrats have been meeting this week to plan their next line of attack against the 2nd Amendment. Amazingly, they think that a mass shooting 7,000 miles away in New Zealand is enough for them to push their worst gun control bill of all: the assault weapons ban.
You're already hearing it from the Democrat presidential candidates. Sen. Amy Klobuchar recently declared that banning "assault weapons" would be her priority. Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke announced his candidacy this week and said that no American should own an AR-15.
Even Nancy Pelosi understands how dangerous pushing an assault weapon ban is. She knows the history. The last time Congressional Democrats tried to ban weapons and disarm Americans, they were removed from office and Newt Gingrich became Speaker... That is why when the House voted on a gun control package last month, the assault weapon ban was noticeably absent.
Radicals in the Democrat Party, however, are fighting back against Pelosi. Isn't it amazing that the Democrats have swung so far to the Left that Nancy Pelosi is considered "moderate" by comparison?
Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) just introduced his bill, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 and set a record: On day one, 190 Congressmen signed on as co-sponsors, more than any other bill ever. The list continues to grow, with Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) signing on just yesterday. In the Senate, the bill is being pushed by none other than Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
But this year's version of the bill -- believe it or not -- is far more radical than any of the past bills. This assault weapon ban goes beyond just AR-15s and would ban more guns than ever before!
The original Assault Weapon Ban of 1994 banned 20 firearms by name and created a definition for targeting "copycat" guns. Basically, if a gun had "AR-15" or "AK-47" written or stamped on it, it was banned by name. If a gun had too many 'evil' features, like a detachable magazine, collapsable stock, bayonet lug, pistol grip, threaded barrel, or grenade launched, then it was banned as a "copycat."
Gun manufactures complied with the law and stopped naming their guns "AR-15s" and removed these prohibited evil features from the bill. Americans were able to own AWB-compliant rifles to protect themselves.
This new version of the bill, however, would prevent all of that. The list of firearms banned by name has now grown to 204. And the copycat provision cracks down on practically every other model of semi-automatic rifle.
Dianne Feinstein's bill looks simple enough, but there is a clause buried within it that is the most dangerous gun control provision ever written. Typically, an Assault Weapons has been defined as a gun with a "pistol grip." Pistol grips have always, legally, been defined as a grip that extends vertically beneath the action of a firearm.
Feinstein's bill says that "the term ‘pistol grip’ means a grip, a thumbhole stock or Thordsen-type grip or stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip." (emphasis added)
What does this mean? Practically every semi-automatic rifle on the market today would be banned. If the gun accepts a detachable magazine -- which the vast majority of guns sold in the United States do -- and it's possible to hold it in your hand, it would be banned.
But it doesn't just stop there. The Feinstein/Cicilline bill would also ban millions of legally owned pistols, including handguns with threaded barrels or 'arm braces' originally designed to help disabled gun owners better handle their firearms.
Amazingly, Republicans are still lining up to vote for this trash. Marco Rubio(FL), Susan Collins (ME), and Lisa Murkowski (AK) are still promising to vote for an assault weapon ban if it ever reaches the floor. RINOs like Fred Upton (MI) and Chris Smith (NJ) were able to win re-election by promising to make gun control a priority.
The Republicans are literally conspiring with Democrats right now to attack the 2nd Amendment!
We're in a pretty remarkable situation right now. McConnell and Pelosi don't want to bring an Assault Weapon Bill to the floor. But leftist Democrats and Republicans are forcing them to do just that.
They are trying to use the New Zealand shooting as an excuse to chip away at your rights even more. If they're willing to disarm Americans over a shooting that happened on the other side of the globe, imagine how much faster they'll move when, God forbid, there is another high-profile shooting here in the US...
This bill is moving forward in both the House and the Senate and spineless Republicans are signing onto the Left's plan to impose the biggest gun ban in American history.
Ronald Reagan warned that our freedoms are never more than a generation away from extinction. Leftists tried to ban these guns back in 1994, and failed. Now, they are back a generation later to finish the job.
And it is up to YOU to stop them!
This is happening. The only question left is whether you're going to fight back or let them chip away at the 2nd Amendment...
