This weekend there was a remarkable story of heroism.

A city in Florida was holding a back-to-school event in a local park. In addition to preaching a message of peace in the community, the event was designed to hand out backpacks and other school supplies to children getting ready to go back to school.

Everyone was happy and having a good time. That is, until one man decided to open fire on the crowd. He had gotten into an argument with one of the attendees earlier, went home to retrieve his gun, and decided to kill as many people as possible. He started shooting indiscriminately at the people in the park.

Thank God, there was someone there with a concealed carry permit. The bystander immediately drew his weapon and shot the assailant before anyone else could get hurt. Because of his heroism, the only person sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries was the shooter himself.

Concealed carry saves lives. And yet, a minority of states are still allowed to ban residents and visitors alike from exercising this fundamental right.

New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, California, Maryland, Hawaii, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island all have laws on the books that allow police officers or judges to deny a concealed carry application at any time, for any reason. They are called "may-issue" states since if you apply, the government only "may" issue you a permit. The answer is almost always no.

These 9 states may seem like a small minority, but they account for more than 26% of the American people. 1 in 4 Americans are having their right to bear arms openly violated.

But here is the good news: There's a bill in Congress that would change this for good!

Don't let the GOP get away from killing this pro-gun bill! Send your immediate FaxBlast to Congress and FORCE them to fully pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act!

The legislation is called the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Here's how it works.

If you are licensed or permitted to carry a concealed firearm in one state, you would be allowed to carry it in every state. Kind of like how driver's licenses are good nationwide.

Right now, I have two carry permits: one issued by Colorado and another issued by Utah. But even with these TWO concealed carry permits, I am only allowed to exercise my right to bear arms in 37 states. This legislation would grant nationwide 50-state reciprocity for ANY lawfully issued concealed carry permit.

The only reason that I have a Utah permit is because I used to live in New Jersey. Unless you are wealthy and well-connected, it is impossible to get a carry permit in NJ. I got my Utah permit because I was going to graduate school in Philadelphia. That permit allowed me to carry a gun in Pennsylvania.

Here is where the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act really shines. It would grant nationwide reciprocity to non-resident carry permits as well. Anti-gun states would no longer be allowed to infringe on their law-abiding residents' rights. If a state like California or New York refuses to grant a law-abiding citizen a carry permit, he or she would be able to get a non-resident permit from Utah, Florida, or New Hampshire and use that permit to carry nationwide... including in their home state.

Yes, this bill would dismantle every single state-level carry ban in the country.

This is the biggest civil rights bill to come along in decades. This would restore the 2nd Amendment for more than a quarter of all Americans. We're talking about restoring the right to bear arms for almost 85 million people.

The legislation has the votes to pass in the House and given the fact that there are ten Senate Democrats up for re-election in states Trump won, it can pass the Senate too. But Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell refuse to bring it up for a vote!

A right delayed is a right denied! Tell Congress they MUST put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto President Trump's desk immediately, or else!

This legislation technically has already passed the House. But when it was brought to the floor, Paul Ryan added gun control measures to try to win over "moderate Republicans." It passed with a bipartisan majority: 231-198.

During last year's budget fight, Ryan stripped the carry language from the bill and added it into the Omnibus. The concealed carry provisions were left on the cutting room floor while the new gun control measures became law. So, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act have to pass the House again in order to reach Pres. Trump's desk.

In the Senate, the path to passage is clear. There are ten Senate Democrats up for re-election in pro-Trump states. They include Senators from West Virginia, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida. Does anyone think that a Democrat can win a race in West Virginia if they don't support the 2nd Amendment? Of course not.

To that end, look at other vulnerable Democrats like Alabama Senator Doug Jones. Do you really think a Democrat can win re-election in Alabama if he votes against the right to bear arms?

With the right pressure, the votes are clearly there.

But here is the problem: Mitch McConnell doesn't want to force them to cast this vote. We have an opportunity of a lifetime here. Either the bill passes and the 2nd Amendment is restored nationwide or these Democrats reveal their anti-gun intentions and get voted out of office. If Congress holds the vote, it is a win-win.

McConnell, however, prefers Option C: Democrats win and the 2nd Amendment continues to be violated.

The GOP leadership is abandoning the 2nd Amendment. Pres. Trump has promised to sign this bill into law if it reaches his desk, but Ryan and McConnell are doing everything they can to stop that from happening!

Please, I am begging you, don't let these turncoats abandon the American people!

Fight back and demand the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act!

Please, send your instant FaxBlast to Congress before it is too late! Order them to put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto President Trump's desk right now, or else!

Sincerely,
