Late last week, Trump announced that he would not sign Paul Ryan's "compromise" amnesty bill as written. Conservatives in Congress took that opportunity to amend the bill to bring it more in-line with Trump's campaign promises.
Paul Ryan wanted to put all illegal aliens on a pathway to citizenship. The latest changes would only grant "temporary" visas to illegal aliens, and citizenship would only be available by merit. Conservatives also secured 25B for the border wall, an end to the immigration lottery, and severe shrinkage to chain migration.
The bill isn't perfect, by any means, but for the first time, there is a snap-back provision that would end all amnesty if the border wall is ever defunded or deconstructed. For the first time, Congress is putting American border security first.
But now, the Democrats are refusing to sign it and Paul Ryan is shaking. He chose to make immigration reform his 'swan song' before retirement. He promised illegal alien advocacy groups that he would pass an amnesty. Now, Democrats are refusing to vote for it unless he goes back to the previous clean amnesty bill.
And with that, the Republican cowards have reintroduced their discharge petition to force a vote on clean amnesty. They need 25 Republicans to team up with the Dems to get their bill onto Trump's desk. Last week, they came up one vote short with just 24 GOP signatures. They would have hit 25, but ran out of time. Now, they are reintroducing the petition to pressure Paul Ryan into completely relenting!
Trump is absolutely furious that Ryan is starting to waffle. The President has called all of these GOP cowards to the White House to make it absolutely clear what will happen to them if they pass an amnesty.
And the President needs you to do the same!
The Ryan immigration bill was supposed to go to the floor today. But as word of Paul Ryan's second-thoughts reached the White House, President Trump called the GOP leadership for a meeting to lay down the law.
We all know that Ryan doesn't care what Trump has to say. At this point, he is only interested in building monuments to himself, even if that means teaming up with the Democrats. If he leaves office without making Obama's amnesty programs permanent, he believes he will be remembered as a failure.
The GOP smackdown is just a few hours away. We need to bombard Congress before it's too late and demand they hold the line and pass Conservative immigration reform
If Ryan surrenders, we won't get a second chance at this...
President Trump is using every possible tool at his disposal to get conservative immigration reform passed. We are so close to victory, and the spineless GOP leadership is starting to get cold feet.
We have gotten this far. Together with President Trump, we have forced the GOP to stand down. Now, with victory in sight, the pro-amnesty wing of the Republican Party is trying to drag us back into the Obama years.
You cannot let this happen.
I might sound cliche, but years from now, history textbooks will write about what happens this week. They will either tell the story of how Americans rose up to take their country back, or they will tell a tale of how the pro-amnesty wing succeeded in opening up the illegal immigration floodgates.
I am not willing to surrender this country. Are you?
