Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO), shown above, is barely a Republican and certainly not a Conservative. During the 2016 election, he was one of the clowns urging Donald Trump to drop out and just let Hillary Clinton win.

Liberals love him because he is a "moderate." What that means is that he is willing to stab the Conservative base in the back.

Yesterday, Coffman introduced a discharge petition to force a vote on the "Bridge Act." The name refers to a common talking point from the Clinton campaign that instead of building a wall, we should be building a bridge.

The Bridge Act is the ultimate betrayal because it includes NONE of President Trump's immigration demands.

The Bridge Act is nothing but an extension of Barack Obama's amnesty executive order. Illegal aliens would get to keep their amnesty and work permits for an additional 3 years. In other words, whoever wins the next Presidential election would get to decide what to do with Obama's illegal alien "dreamers."

The Establishment and Democrats are trying to run out the clock. They are hoping that Trump loses. Heck, Mike Coffman was publicly wishing for Trump to lose the last time around... If this bill passes and Trump loses the next election, then they would be allowed to pass a complete and total amnesty without approving the Wall.

This bill is the ultimate betrayal. It would keep the border wide open and welcome even more illegal aliens into the country.

And the worst part is they are claiming they have the votes to pass it...

A discharge petition is a mechanism to bypass Congressional leadership. Under the rules, a piece of legislation needs to be approved by one or more committees. Then, the Speaker of the House or Senate Majority Leader gets to decide whether to schedule a full floor vote. If the leadership doesn't like a bill, they can block it from ever reaching the floor.

The Founders wanted to make sure that one person couldn't block legislation that would otherwise have enough support to pass. So, they created the discharge petition. If a bill's author can get a majority of their colleagues to sign onto it, they can force the leadership to schedule a floor vote. In the House, that requires 218 signatures (the same number needed to pass).

Rep. Coffman wouldn't buck his party and introduce a Democrat bill unless he was confident that he had the votes. Right now, there are 193 Democrats in the House. That means that they would need 25 other Republicans to sign onto the petition.

They already have 16 Republicans who have signed on: Reps. Mike Coffman, Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), Jeff Denham (R-CA), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), David Reichert (R-WA), David Valadao (R-CA), Don Bacon (R-NE), Brian K. Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Daniel Donovan (R-NY), John Faso (R-NY), Chris Stewart (R-UT), Fred Upton (R-MI), Thomas MacArthur (R-NJ), Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ), and Justin Amash (R-MI).

Pay attention: That means that they need just nine more GOP turncoats and the bill will pass.

Coffman believes he has the votes, otherwise he wouldn't have filed the petition.

A few days ago, the GOP was perfectly willing to accept the status quo. Liberal judges blocked Trump from ending Obama's amnesty program, so these turncoats didn't think they needed to pass a bill anymore.

But yesterday, Judge Roger Titus ruled that President Trump's decision to end Obama's amnesty was perfectly legal and constitutional. That created a circuit split, which will accelerate the appeals process.

Now, facing the prospect of illegal aliens losing their amnesty, these GOP cowards are showing their true colors. They are now working with the Democrats to legalize Obama's amnesty without approving any of the border security proposals.

This is a complete surrender.
