We're about to enter September. That means that Congress will have just days to get its act together and vote on a number of must-pass-bills. These include legislation to raise the debt ceiling as well as the entire Federal budget for the next fiscal year.
That's a lot to get done in just the first week of September. There's good news and bad news. The good news is that Congress is already hard at work putting together spending bills to they can hit the ground running in September. The bad news is Republicans are starting to admit that President Trump's border wall will not be funded...
The House voted to include 1.6 billion for the wall in its funding bill. Republican Senators are now promising that is dead on arrival.
That's right, people like John McCain and Jeff Flake are promising that Trump's wall won't get a single cent. House Republicans now are unsure whether it is worth fighting for...
The White House is being completely clear. If Congress won't fund the wall, President Trump won't sign the bill!
Trump is fighting, but he needs you to put pressure on Congress as well!
This was President Trump's main campaign promise. The wall needs to be built for the President to be re-elected, otherwise we'll get President Bernie Sanders or President Elizabeth Warren (shudders).
Which is why many in Congress are against building the wall. I spoke to an aide on Capitol Hill over the weekend and brought this up to him.
"So what?" he asked me.
We've hit a new low. Now, we have Republicans actively fighting against building a wall because they want to make sure the President is not re-elected... These so-called Conservatives are willing to leave the border open and unsecured just because they would rather see a Democratic Socialist in the Oval Office.
This is what NeverTrumpism looks like. And the amazing thing is that Trump isn't asking for anything they haven't already promised. Congress voted in 2006 to build a wall. Practically every Republican in Congress has campaigned on a promise to build the wall. John McCain famously launched a campaign ad demanding that Congress "complete the danged fence." (shown above)
Like clockwork, McCain is one of the Republicans now threatening to vote against any bill with border wall funding. Part of the reason is that these Republicans never actually wanted to secure the border. But the other reason is that they are that opposed to President Trump that they would actually vote against the American people just to stick it to him.
Remember: After McCain cast the vote to kill the Obamacare repeal bill in the Senate, he turned to Democrats and said, "let's see Donald make America great again now..."
They think they can get away with this and still win re-election. It is up to you to prove them wrong!
The wall is non-negotiable. Congress added funding to their spending bill, but Paul Ryan will remove it at the first sign of trouble, just like he did back in the Spring.
The RINOs have already stalled for seven months. If they succeed in defunding Trump's wall, that means we will have to wait another year for this.
President Trump is promising a veto if Congress doesn't fund the wall. He is fighting back.
Now he needs YOU to hold Congress' feet to the fire as well!
Build. The. Wall.
