Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security. Gun control is not dead. The Left's agenda is moving forward and more and more Republicans are caving.
Just yesterday, the Florida legislature voted to eliminate the 2nd Amendment for adults between the ages of 18 and 21. They're old enough to vote and join the military, but according to Florida, these people now have no right to self-defense. Florida Republicans are the ones who passed this bill.
The same is happening behind the scenes in Congress. Vulnerable Republicans are surrendering on the 2nd Amendment and throwing their name behind gun control proposals.
Don Bacon is a first-term Congressman from Nebraska. He has come out in support of measures to restrict Americans' ability to purchase guns and pass the background check legislation (aka a universal gun registry) that Obama had wanted.
Congressman John Faso (R-NY) also caved this past week, signing onto a plan to raise the age to purchase any firearm to 21. He went from being a supporter of the 2nd Amendment to abandoning millions of law-abiding Americans.
18 year olds aren't children. They are adults. They enjoy full citizenship rights, including the right to vote. But now, Republicans are flipping and surrendering their right to self-defense.
This is absolutely shameful.
Here's the good news. Our advocacy is working. Pro-gun Congressmen are making their stand. But every time one of these so-called Conservatives caves, we become one vote closer to seeing this legislation pass!
We just witnessed a Republican state legislature eliminate the right to keep and bear arms for well over a million Floridians ages 18 to 21. They literally voted away their rights.
Now, the push is coming to Congress.
We have already warned you that more than dozen GOP lawmakers backed a new semi-automatic firearm ban. If they're willing to ban guns for all Americans, of course they would be willing to support an 18-21 ban.
If every Democrat votes for such a change (they will), and these dozen+ Republicans join them, then they would need just a handful of other Republicans to pass their gun control bill.
Listen, I know a couple who just had a child together. They live in a rough area of town. If this proposal passes, then they would lose the right to purchase a firearm to defend themselves because they are both 20 years old. They're both law-abiding citizens who just want to protect themselves and their baby.
Why are we even talking about disarming people like them? Why is Congress even considering eliminating a Constitutional right for millions of American adults?
No one thought that Florida would implement gun control. In 2nd Amendment circles, Florida was known as the 'Gunshine State.' No one imagined that the Republicans would fold like they did.
But that is exactly what happened. When the Governor signs this bill, more than a million Florida adults will lose the right to keep and bear arms, not because they committed a crime, but because of their age.
Now we're seeing the same movement in Congress.
You cannot let this happen!
