Typically, it takes 218 votes for something to pass the House of Representatives. That represents a simple majority if every Congressman shows up to vote. The reality is, however, that there are always a couple of Representatives who don't show up or abstain from voting.
The result is what we saw yesterday. The House of Representatives was able to pass the budget with just 216 votes because five Congressmen didn't vote or didn't show up to the vote. Practically every vote ends up missing a handful of people.
That means that in all likelihood, we are now as few as TWO votes away from passing the biggest pro-2nd Amendment bill in American history: the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This legislation would not only make concealed carry permits and licenses valid nationwide, but it would give Americans living in anti-gun states like New Jersey or California the opportunity to circumvent their state requirements and use a non-resident permit from a state like Utah or Florida in order to carry across the country. On top of that, the legislation protects people who live in permitless states, ensuring that they too can defend themselves nationwide.
The bill currently has 213 listed sponsors and co-sponsors. Add in Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who authored this legislation in the past and just returned last month after being shot himself, and that puts us at 214.
As we saw yesterday, bills can pass with as few as 216 votes.
Paul Ryan has different priorities. He is more interested in pushing an amnesty bill through in order to protect all of the "Dreamers" that Obama's unconstitutional executive order protected.
Even though the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act likely has enough support to pass, he is still refusing to budge.

In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, this common sense bill was shelved. It should have received a vote a week and a half ago, but Paul Ryan said the "timing isn't right." After that horrible shooting, Paul Ryan came out and actually put his weight behind Dianne Feinstein's gun control bill. Even the NRA seemed open to getting behind the Left's gun control plan.
You and millions of other liberty supporters rose up and said 'don't you dare.' You scared the NRA straight. They're no longer supporting the gun control package. You scared Paul Ryan straight. He has since said that he will not schedule a vote on Feinstein's gun ban. When the legislation was ultimately rolled out, only ten Republicans were foolish enough to attach their names to it.
Together, we fended off this assault on our liberty. Now it is time to expand the 2nd Amendment for us and generations to come!
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act has three Democratic co-sponsors. That means that aside from the supporter we know about, there are 29 other Republicans in the House that haven't chosen a side yet.
In the Senate, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act has 39 Republican co-sponsors. Add in the rest of the GOP caucus and then we need just a handful of Democrat votes. There are ten Democrat Senators up for re-election next year in pro-gun states that Donald Trump won. This is very doable.
All we need is a spark!
Paul Ryan thinks he can single-handedly block this legislation from coming to the floor. It is up to you to rise up and prove otherwise!
Don't let these cowards win! Tell Congress to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and restore the 2nd Amendment to all Americans!
We had a chance at getting the 2nd Amendment restored through the court system. The DC Circuit Court of Appeals remarkably ruled this month that the District's concealed carry ban was unconstitutional. However, the District of Columbia's Attorney General chose not to appeal the case to the Supreme Court. He didn't want to risk restoring 2nd Amendment rights to the 25% of Americans living in other gun control states. 1 in every 4 Americans currently live in states that do not even recognize the right to bear arms.
There is no immediate path to victory through the court system. Now, only Congress can intervene by passing this once-in-a-lifetime bill.
That really is what we're talking about. Opportunities like this come around only once in a lifetime. For the first time, we have majorities in Congress and a President who campaigned on a promise to sign reciprocity into law.
We have ten Senate Democrats with targets on their backs next year who wouldn't dare vote against the 2nd Amendment going into an off-year election. Do you really think the Democrat Senators from North Dakota, Missouri, Montana, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, Ohio, or West Virginia -- all pro-gun states -- would dare vote against their constituents' right to defend themselves?
Chuck Schumer has already warned Democrats not to push for gun control anymore. They went through the polling and realized it would be suicide to talk about gun control anymore.
We are just two votes away from victory.
Please, don't let these two RINOs ruin this once in a lifetime opportunity!
