President Donald Trump is flying to California today to personally inspect the border wall prototypes. This is part of the White House's plan to put maximum pressure on the GOP leadership to authorize the President's border wall.
The clock is ticking. Congress is voting on a massive omnibus spending bill in the next seven days. Democrats and establishment Republicans know that if they can stall this and prevent the border wall funding from being approved, then they can delay the project for a whole other year.
The President is now going all out, threatening to veto any legislation that reaches his desk without full border wall authorization.
He needs your help forcing Congress to act!
I wanted to also draw your attention to another story breaking this week. The administration has crunched the numbers and determined that they can entirely pay for a border wall if they just cut off welfare for illegal aliens. Those fraudulent welfare payments could fund a full border wall (and some).
The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that if the border wall could prevent 100k illegal border crossings, it would save the US taxpayer 64 billion -- just from the benefits (public education, healthcare, welfare, etc) that this country currently gives illegal aliens. That is four-times what President Trump is urging Congress to authorize.
That of course doesn't mention the human cost of having an open southern border. Think about all the American lives that would be saved by cutting back on opioid smuggling or preventing violent cartel killers from just walking into the US.
The border wall prototypes are already up. Did you know that they brought a Special Forces unit in to test the walls? They spent a week trying to breach the walls with jackhammers and scale the prototypes and they weren't successful on all of them. Border Patrol agents observed the results of the testing and are upgrading the walls to account for discovered vulnerabilities.
The final product will be strong enough to stop American Special Forces. Illegal aliens and smugglers won't stand a chance.
But none of that happens if Congress continues to block the funding. None of that happens if cowards like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell remove border wall funding from the spending bill.
The President has made the biggest threat he can make: a veto and, as a result, a government shutdown.
Now, he needs YOU to help finish this!
Right now, Paul Ryan is debating whether to put funding in next week's omnibus bill for 74 miles of a border wall.
The President of the United States campaigned on a promise to build a border wall and the Speaker of the House is too much of a coward even to authorize funding to build a border wall on 2 percent of the US-Mexico border. That's how out of touch he is.
Even if the GOP does allow that funding into the bill, it isn't nearly good enough.
The GOP leadership has tried desperately to run out the clock. Here we are, 14 months into the Trump Presidency and they aren't even willing to approve this modest funding.
This is what the establishment wants. The spending bill they are debating will carry the government through the end of the year. Through two years of Trump's Presidency, half of his first term in office, the GOP is debating whether to build 74 miles of a border wall or no border wall at all.
They are pathetic. And make no mistake, if they actually find the cojones to sign off on building 74 miles of a border wall, they will try to convince you that is a success.
President Trump is making it clear to them: None of this is good enough.
But YOU need to blast Congress as well!
In the next week, Congress must vote on a spending bill. That legislation will fund the government through the end of the year. If border wall funding is not included, we will have to wait another year to even start the project. If Democrats manage to retake either chamber of Congress, the wall will never happen.
It is literally now or never!
