Nancy Pelosi failed yesterday to override Trump's veto and block the border wall project from moving forward. Only 13 Republicans in the house and 12 in the Senate were willing to vote against the President, falling short of the 2/3 majority necessary to override Trump's veto.
But yesterday's vote was really just political theater. The real danger is coming next.
It is called H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019.
Democrats said that this would be their version of a clean Dream Act, but it is much worse than that. This single bill would grant amnesty and a pathway to citizenship for 2 million illegal aliens and recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Even Barack Obama's DACA program only gave amnesty for three-quarters of a million people...
Yes, you read that correctly: amnesty and citizenship for 2 million people. And because it is a "clean" amnesty bill, there are ZERO compromises to increase border security or close immigration loopholes. Just one big amnesty and citizenship givea way.
The legislation now has 225 co-sponsors, breaking a Congressional record for new legislation. But the worst part is that there are now dozens of Republicans -- in both the House and Senate -- lining up to vote for it as early as this week!
This isn't an exaggeration. The American Dream and Promise Act would give amnesty and a pathway to citizenship to 2 million illegal aliens. If the Democrats are able to push this through, this nation will never recover.
Not only that, but it would give permanent residency to hundreds of thousands of "temporary" refugees. These are people who fled war and natural disasters decades ago and were given "temporary" asylum in the US. But even though their home countries have completely rebuilt, these people refuse to go home.
H.R. 6 takes every single one of the Democrats' dream immigration proposals and throws it into one big bill.
Republicans had offered to pass this amnesty as part of a "comprehensive" package. Basically, they were willing to trade amnesty in exchange for border security enhancements and closing loopholes in our immigration laws. The plan was to demand Pelosi pass legislation like Kate's Law and a ban on sanctuary cities before any amnesty vote was even entertained.
But Pelosi and her GOP allies have abandoned that plan. Instead, they are pushing this bill through as a clean piece of legislation. The biggest amnesty program ever will have no strings attached.
Why is she doing this? Because she has enough Republican votes to pass it as-is!
Here's the real kicker. The only way the GOP can push this monstrosity through is if they do it so quickly, you don't have time to mobilize. That is the story behind every GOP surrender and why the Senate leadership held a gun control hearing yesterday. They used the Mueller Report news to cover up their betrayal. Now, they're trying to do the same with immigration.
Remember when the GOP tried to push through the Gang of Eight's immigration package back in 2013/4? Conservatives across the country rallied to kill the bill. You put the fear of the electorate back into the GOP and they backed down.
Democrats are moving forward with this because they believe they have enough Republican votes to pass it. And the GOP is only supporting the amnesty and citizenship giveaway because they think YOU won't hold them accountable.
That is where you fit in: it is your job to prove them wrong!
You CANNOT let these GOP cowards surrender and give amnesty and citizenship to millions of illegal aliens!
