This is huge news.
In recent weeks, I have been talking about the House appropriations process and how important the next few weeks will be. Right now, Congressmen and Senators are working behind closed doors to write next year's spending bills. They will decide what gets funded and what projects are left on the cutting room floor.
We have been pressuring Congress to make sure that next year's appropriation bills fund President Trump's border wall. Yesterday, we received great news.
The House Homeland Security Subcommittee just marked up the bill and approved 5B for a border wall. This would end up funding hundreds of miles of new border wall. Not the dinky fence that George Bush and Barack Obama put up... but a real wall.
This is a big deal. The Senate's version of the bill only includes 1.6B for border security, but here's the catch: none of the Senate funds would authorize new border wall construction. The Senate Republicans, once again, are trying to block the wall from being built.
If the Senate bill had been signed into law, not a single mile of new border wall would have been built in 2019. Yes, that would be a huge betrayal.
That is why we have been fighting like crazy to stop them.
Now, we have an opening...
This fight is happening right now. Obviously, the liberals and "moderate" Republicans want the Senate version to pass.
If that happens, then there would be no border wall construction in 2019. Since 2020 is an election year, there is no chance that Congress approves border funding then.
It is really now or never. If it's going to get built, then it needs to happen in the next year. In order for that to happen, it must be funded in this upcoming round of spending bills.
That is why this is so important.
The House bill is, in no way, set in stone. There is still plenty of time for Ryan and the rest of the leadership to water this down -- which they've done close to 8 times since Trump was elected. We're not out of the woods yet.
But this is a huge step forward. The House Homeland Security Subcommittee just pushed this year's appropriations bill through and it includes 5 billion for border wall funding. Now, it's up to us to make sure that this reaches Trump's desk!
A full vote could just be days away. The establishment will spend that time doing everything in their power to stop this. If they succeed, it's over.
They cannot be allowed succeed.
President Trump has moved funding around so that he could start border wall construction. The wall projects have already broken ground in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. New 20-30 foot border walls are going up as we speak.
If the leadership gets their way, all of this would stop in just a few short weeks.
Make no mistake, this bill made it through the subcommittee because Congress fears you. They know there will be hell to pay if they vote to keep the borders wide open.
Now it is time to force them to vote to fund the wall and increased border security.
It really is simple: President Trump has promised to veto any spending bill that doesn't include border wall funding.
Any Congressman or Senator who blocks the border wall will be removed from office. Period.
