This week, Democrats pushed through their radical American Dream and Promise Act through the House of Representatives. Their goal is to make Barack Obama's unconstitutional amnesty executive order permanent.
As we reported, the Left was aided by eight Republicans: Reps. Bacon (NE), Diaz-Balart (FL), Fitzpatrick (PA), Hurd (TX), Newhouse (WA), Smith (NJ), and Fred Upton (MI). We also reported on Wednesday and Thursday that Republicans in the Senate were already in talks with the Left to figure out a way to get the biggest amnesty bill ever written onto Pres. Trump's desk.
We received a number of emails from people claiming that even if the bill passed the House, it would never get through the Senate. People wrote to us promising that Mitch McConnell would block the bill from ever reaching the floor and that the GOP would never compromise on the Left's plan to give amnesty and citizenship to 2.5 million illegal aliens (including convicted criminals).
But unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening... On Wednesday, McConnell went on the radio and declared that he supported the "Dreamers" and would be happy to pass this bill as long as Democrats agree to add some border security provisions to the package.
"The Dreamers have a sympathetic case. There are circumstances under which I and others would be happy to support that... But I think we need to do more than just that. And that's the context in which I would deal with that issue in the Senate," McConnell said.
Our reporting was 100% correct. The Republicans are negotiating an amnesty "compromise" with Democrats.
We also correctly reported that the Left's amnesty bill would allow illegal alien criminals to qualify for American citizenship.
The passed version of their bill states that an illegal alien is ineligible for citizenship only if he or she has committed a felony, domestic violence crime, or "three or more misdemeanor offenses."
But the bill is actually even worse. The next section -- Section 111(c)(2) -- states that these illegal alien criminals can have their misdemeanors forgiven for "humanitarian purposes, family unity, or if otherwise in the public interest." If an illegal alien criminal goes 5 years without being prosecuted again, then one of their previous misdemeanors is forgiven. If they go 10 years, then two are forgiven.
So not only does the Left's plan give American citizenship to illegal alien convicted criminals, but it actually allows ineligible criminals to become citizens too as long as they can go 5-10 years without being prosecuted again. The law allows gang members to become US citizens as long as they are not prosecuted for a gang crime in the 5 years before they apply for citizenship. And traffic violations, no matter how dangerous, would not disqualify any illegal aliens.
Democrats have been setting this up for years. Illegal alien criminals are almost always allowed to plead their charges down to misdemeanors in liberal states. This is to prevent the Trump administration from deporting them.
For example, illegal aliens charged with "Felony Identity Theft" for stealing an American's identity are typically allowed to plead down to "Misdemeanor Possession of Forged Documents." Drug charges, assault, theft, property crimes, drunk driving offenses, and in some cases even manslaughter can be pled down to a misdemeanor. This is all done in liberal jurisdictions to protect illegal aliens from deportation.
Now, those plea deals will make these illegals eligible for US citizenship. And if an illegal has committed too many crimes, they need to just wait 5-10 years to become eligible again.
This is complete madness.
Republican Senators are already declaring that they will not vote for an immigration bill unless it includes the suicidal Dream Act. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) has said that she will not vote for any immigration package unless it includes Pelosi's Dream Act. Mitt Romney (R-UT) has said that the GOP has a "commitment" legalize the amnesty "put in place by President Obama." Sen. Lisa Murkowski admits it openly: "I support the Dream Act." Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) has also pledged to vote for the Dream Act now that it has reached the Senate.
The list goes on, but those four alone give the Left the majority they need. The only reason that the GOP is negotiating, as opposed to passing this outright, is because they need to attach just enough border security provisions in order to get Pres. Trump to sign the bill into law.
It has only been four days and the GOP is already caving and agreeing to give citizenship to 2.5 million illegal aliens, even if they are convicted criminals.
If this passes, the Republic is finished. These new Democrat voters would flip Republican states like Florida, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina, ensuring Democrat Presidents and Congresses for decades to come.
Republicans think that this is what the American people want them to do. It is up to you -- right now -- to smack sense into them before they surrender on this!
Keep fighting,
