I was on the phone with a friend when news broke that President Trump had authorized a missile strike against Syria's chemical weapons. It was at that moment that my friend said something that was hilarious.
"Did Trump make sure that Hawaiian Judge was ok with this?"
The reference is to Trump's travel ban last year and how Hawaiian Judge Derrick Watson -- an Obama nominee -- tried multiple times to block the executive order.
Obviously this was a joke. But it is symptomatic of a real problem. Obama and Clinton judges are wreaking havoc in the judiciary by blocking the Trump administration everywhere they can.
Last week, another Liberal Judge decided to issue a ruling blocking the Trump administration from punishing sanctuary cities. California District Judge Manuel Real is 94 years old. He was first nominated to the bench by Lyndon B. Johnson and has been issuing liberal rulings ever since.
Judge Real ruled that the Trump administration was breaking the law by withholding law enforcement grants from sanctuary cities and states. According to this judge, if sanctuary cities refuse to cooperate with Federal investigations, the DOJ must still give these cities your taxdollars.
Like so many of his liberal colleagues, Judge Real issued a nationwide injunction. That means that until his ruling is overturned on appeal, the Trump administration cannot crackdown on sanctuary cities.
We now also know just how many illegal alien criminals are being shielded in sanctuary cities. New data released by the Department of Homeland Security shows that between October 2016 and June 2017, sanctuary cities helped 142 illegal alien gang members hide from deportation.
It seems common sense that when cities and towns help illegal alien criminals hide from arrest, they shouldn't get Federal law enforcement grants. That should be reserved for cities that help enforce the law.
But this judge's ruling now forces the Trump administration to give these sanctuary cities your taxdollars anyway, even if they are actively helping illegal alien criminals stay in the country.
We have seen time and time again the consequences that this lawlessness can have. When sanctuary cities release these hardened illegal alien criminals, they usually go on to victimize more innocent Americans.
President Trump is putting new pressure on Congress to fix this once and for all by defunding sanctuary cities.
Tremendous pressure is building, like never before, for the Border wall and an end to crime cradling Sanctuary Cities," Trump posted to social media over the weekend, "Started the Wall in San Diego, where the people were pushing really hard to get it. They will soon be protected."
The President is doing what he can. Paul Ryan tried to block the wall from moving forward, but Trump is breaking ground on a border wall anyway.
But on sanctuary cities, liberal judges continue to legislate from the bench and block the administration from cracking down on jurisdictions that shield illegal aliens.
Only Congress can finish this and only YOU can demand it!
Right now, the GOP establishment is working on an amnesty compromise with Democrats. They want to just give amnesty away to all of the illegal aliens that Obama promised it to. Jeff Flake -- the retiring Senator from Arizona -- admitted that he only voted for the tax bill because the GOP leadership promised him an amnesty vote. Yes, that is how warped the GOP's priorities are...
Now with Paul Ryan set to retire as well, Flake and his allies are demanding the leadership make good on that amnesty promise.
Meanwhile, the border remains completely wide-open and illegal immigration has again returned to Obama-era levels. Not hard to understand why. They are hearing that the GOP is about to cave on amnesty, so they want to get in before it's too late. And American families are the ones paying the price for this cowardice.
We all need to band together and tell Congress, in one united voice, 'don't you dare sell out this country.' They were sent to Washington to enforce our immigration laws, not sidestep them.
President Trump has once again warned Congress not to go down this path. He sent Congress a list of 70 immigration enforcement policies that they must enact. At the top of that list is legislation to defund sanctuary cities!
Right now, that bill has stalled. It is up to YOU to get it moving again and help Pres. Trump crackdown on these sanctuary cities!
