It is pretty remarkable that Congress even needs to vote on this, but Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) just officially reintroduced the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
The premise is really simple. If a baby survives an abortion attempt, or is born alive in any way at all, doctors and nurses are not allowed to kill or neglect the child.
The reason this is necessary is because Democrats have finally admitted that they want abortion up to, and even after, birth!
This week, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) went on the radio and supported a bill in his state that would have allowed abortions at ANY point in a pregnancy. Even when a woman is dilating, birth is imminent, and the baby is developed enough to survive outside the womb. But Northam went even further. He advocated killing babies that are even born alive. Below is the entire quote of him explaining what an ideal 3rd (or even "4th") trimester abortion would look like.
“So in this particular example if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Virginia isn't alone on this. New York passed a radical law that allows for viable children to be killed, up to and even immediately after birth. Vermont and Rhode Island are also considering legislation to legalize infanticide.
That is why Ben Sasse is making his push right now to force a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, but he needs your help to win this!
My wife and I welcomed our first child last year. Last month, he just turned one year old.
When my son was born, he didn't cry right away. The nurses grabbed him and started working on him under the heat lamps. After what felt like an eternity, the team of nurses was finally able to clear the fluid from his airways and he let out a loud cry.
I want to make sure you understand what Democrats are trying to accomplish. Not only are they trying to legalize 3rd trimester abortions nationwide, but they want to absolve doctors and nurses from having to resuscitate babies that are born alive.
Ifa baby doesn't cry out right away, a mother and doctor would be able to legally decide not to resuscitate him or her.
This is barbaric.
Senator Sasse delivered a blistering speech yesterday demanding that Congress condemn this barbarism.
"We’re talking about killing a baby that’s been born. We’re not talking about some euphemism, we’re not talking about a clump of cells. We’re talking about a little baby girl who’s been born and is on a table in a hospital or a medical facility and then a decision or a debate would be had about whether or not you could kill that little baby," Sasse said. “We’re talking about the most vulnerable among us, and we have a public official in America out there again and again defending a practice. This is infanticide that we’re talking about.”
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would stop this in its tracks!
Not surprisingly, Democrats believe this is part of a woman's "right to choose." They believe that women should have the power to kill babies that are already born alive.
President Trump warned this during his 2016 debate with Hillary Clinton. He warned that Democrats were going to try to legalize abortion through delivery. But even he didn't envision Leftists trying to legalize abortion after birth...
Democrats are trying to make this a nationwide policy. Richard Blumenthal's Women's Health Protection Act would legalize third trimester abortions and if a baby is born alive anyway, doctors and nurses would be allowed to let him or her die.
The Left claims that this is to protect the health of the mother. They're lying. In these cases, the baby has already been born. An newborn baby cannot hurt anyone! No, this is simply murder.
Every single Democrat 2020 Presidential candidate supports this proposal. This is what the country's future looks like if we don't stop this right now!
Mahatma Ghandi famously said that "the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members." It is absolutely shameful that it is even necessary to fight for the rights of newborns, but if we don't stop this now, it will be too late.
There's no longer any doubt that Democrat Party is now endorsing pure evil. But what does it say about us if we just sit by and let these radical abortion laws stand?
