If I didn't already know their motives, I'd say Democrats had gone insane.
Democrats are refusing to give President Trump 5.7 billion for the border wall. Instead, they are trying to cap the border wall funding at just 500 million. That's enough to build just a few dozen miles of new border fencing in the next year... It's an insulting offer.
But it gets a lot worse. Democrats are tying this pitiful wall funding to a mandatory reduction in ICE detention "bed" funding.
I talked about this yesterday, but I wanted to explain what this means and why it is so dangerous. The Founders gave Congress the power of the purse. This means they can pick and choose which government policies receive funding, and which do not.
The law says that the executive branch can arrest and detain illegal aliens. But Congress gets control the funding used at these detention facilities. By limiting detention capacity, once these detention beds are full, ICE and Border Patrol must start releasing any new illegal aliens that they capture.
Democrats are now demanding that the GOP cut ICE's border beds by thousands. That means that the Trump administration would be forced to release thousands or even tens of thousands more illegal alien criminals into society every single year.
It sounds insane. But that is actually the Democrat position.
With your help, we are hammering Congress and demanding that they reject this "compromise." It is starting to work. Senator Lindsey Graham -- previously a proponent of this immigration deal -- just went on Fox News and condemned the Left's catch-and-release demands.
Seeing that support is starting to buckle, Democrats and turncoat Republicans are going to roll out this surrender package tomorrow!
Right now, there are 2,000 caravan migrants gathered just across the border from Eagle Pass, TX. At least two thousand other migrants are on their way.
If Democrats are able to reduce the funding for ICE detention beds, then all of these illegal aliens would get to cross the border and then stay in the United States.
The Left wants to force us to live in a world where ICE is only allowed to arrest so many illegal aliens criminals. Couple that with blocking the border wall and giving amnesty out to illegal aliens (also in the bill) and we are going to see a flood of illegal aliens pour into this country.
Gallup just released a poll showing that a whopping 42 million people in Latin America want to come to the United States, but are waiting for the right time to do it. Of those, at least 5 million are planning to illegally cross the US-Mexico border in the next 12 months.
This is why Democrats are doing this. If they can block the border wall and cap how many illegal aliens ICE and Border Patrol are allowed to arrest, all of these illegal aliens can just waltz right in...
And the traitorous republicans want to go along with this plan!
But the worst part of this bill -- worse than blocking the wall and defunding ICE detention facilities -- is a proposed amendment prohibiting President Trump from funding the border wall on his own. Even if Trump found the funds for wall construction, this amendment would prohibit him from building it.
This isn't about "compromising" on immigration. The Left wants open borders and total amnesty for illegal aliens.
And the GOP is about to give it to them!
