Donald Trump's election wasn't just a victory against liberalism. It was a victory for conservatism.
His victory provided us with a chance not only to stop gun control from moving forward, but also to -- for the first time in decades -- take positive steps towards protecting and expanding the 2nd Amendment.
The GOP establishment had different plans. Last year, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and their cronies worked tirelessly to stop pro-gun bills from reaching the floor. They used every tragic shooting as an excuse to block the bills from moving forward.
One bill would let concealed carry permit holders carry their firearms in all 50 states. The other would de-regulate suppressors and remove them from under the NFA, allowing people to purchase them using the FBI's affordable background check system instead of being forced to pay the ATF 200.
Both of these bills have the President's support. Both of these bills have the support of a majority of Congressmen and Senators. But neither have reached a vote because Ryan and McConnell believe the "timing isn't right."
But now, they have gone beyond just blocking pro-gun bills. A vote on new gun control was just scheduled for THIS week.
This is a total betrayal. The GOP is promising Democrats a vote on the Fix NICS Act, a bill that would overhaul the background check system to make sure people don't fall through the cracks.
But in order to hold a vote on the bill, the Republican leadership needs to cut out the biggest pro-gun bill in American history.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would grant nationwide reciprocity to anyone with a carry permit. But it would also allow law-abiding Americans who live in anti-gun states like New Jersey and California to finally -- for the first time in their lives -- carry firearms in public.
This bill passed the House with a bipartisan majority. In order to get the Establishment GOP on board, they attached the background check bill as an amendment. When the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act seemed poised to pass, they snuck in a gun control amendment.
But now that the GOP has flipped and is only interested in passing gun control, they have removed the CCRA and are only voting on the background check bill.
This is an incredible betrayal.
The vote is happening by the end of the week. This is our moment, our chance to force Congress to pass this major pro-gun legislation. This is an opportunity to restore the 2nd Amendment for 25% of all Americans.
Please don't let these turncoats abandon the American people!
Fight back and DEMAND the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act!
Don't stop fighting!
