On Monday evening, my wife gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy named Max. Being our first child, I didn't really know what to expect. But the minute he came into the world, I felt so much love for this little human, and an urge to protect him, that I suddenly realized what parenthood is all about.

The picture above was actually taken right after he was born. As the nurses took my son over to the heat lamp to get him all cleaned off, I couldn't help but think about how perfect this was. And when he finally cried, it felt like my heart skipped a beat.

But in so many operating rooms around the country, a baby's cry means something else entirely. Max Jr. was born early. And to think that there are actually members of Congress who believe that a baby that premature should be allowed to be aborted is shameful.

But this week, Liberals hit an all new low. They voted to let doctors kill babies who survive abortion procedures...

The House of Representatives passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act this week. This bill expands upon legislation passed in the early 2000s to protect babies that survive abortion procedures.

Essentially, it adds two requirements to Federal law. If a baby is born alive after a botched abortion, the doctors and nurses on hand must "exercise the same degree of care as reasonably provided to any other child born alive at the same gestational age" and require that the "child is immediately admitted to a hospital."

To me, this is common sense. I saw how the nurses collected my son and ran him over to the cart to make sure everything was alright. Thank God he was moving and crying on his own, but if necessary, they had the necessary tools to revive and resuscitate him.

But all across this country, when babies are born alive after a botched abortion, the nurses and doctors stay completely still. Instead of providing life-saving aid, they leave the most vulnerable among us to die on their own. Make no mistake: this is infanticide. This legislation would require that abortion doctors and nurses provide the same life saving aid that you would find in a delivery room.

Do you want to know what is absolutely shameful? 177 House Democrats voted against this common sense bill yesterday. They voted to ensure that when a child survives an abortion, the doctors and nurses would be allowed to let him or her just die. There are so many, I can't even list them all.

So, I am just going to list the five House Democrats who actually voted to protect these innocent babies: Reps. Matt Cartwright (PA), Henry Cuellar (TX), James Langevin (RI), Dan Lipinski (IL), and Collin Peterson (MN). Every other Democrat either voted to let these babies die or couldn't muster the courage to vote at all.

But here is what is even more pathetic: The GOP isn't even going to fight to get this legislation to Pres. Trump's desk...

Paul Ryan could have attached the bill to the short-term spending bill that passed the House yesterday, but he didn't. He passed it as a standalone bill that Mitch McConnell will now ignore entirely.

With the March for Life taking place in D.C. today, the GOP knew they had to pass something. They chose this bill, frankly, because they didn't think they would have the votes on a more pro-life bill, like the one to ban abortions once a baby's heartbeat is detected. But make no mistake, this is only for show. They have no intention of doing everything necessary to get it to Trump's desk.

Had it not been for my son's birth, I would have gone to the March for Life this year. But whether you were able to make it or not, you can still join this fight. You can still force Congress to do everything in its power to protect the most vulnerable among us.

You can still fight to protect the unborn because if we all don't, no one will...
