Fellow Conservative,

There is a lot going on in Washington DC. So much is going on, in fact, that it is nearly impossible to follow everything. Many important issues simply fall through the cracks and never make it into the news.

Right now, the GOP is pushing to renew to ban on federally-funded abortions. Known as the Hyde Amendment, this legislative provision has been introduced as a rider to appropriations legislation every year since 1976. And every year, Democrats have allowed this amendment to pass.

It is simple: Federal funds CANNOT be used to perform an abortion unless the life of the mother is at risk or the pregnancy results from rape or incest. While abortion might be legal, it is still a divisive issue and there is no such thing as a Constitutional right to taxpayer-funded abortion (Harris v. McRae). The country is still split 50/50 on the issue, so it makes sense not to use taxpayer money to fund abortions.

The introduction of the Hyde Amendment 39 years ago proved to be a major victory for the Pro-Life movement, especially after Roe v. Wade.

Right now, this year’s renewal of the Hyde Amendment is being attached to the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act as a rider. This legislation is important. It would take the money that law enforcement seizes from human traffickers and use it to help trafficking victims.

But now, Democrats are promising the filibuster the bill until the GOP allows the federal government to start funding abortions with YOUR tax dollars. How disgusting is that?

The Democrat party is so beholden to Planned Parenthood and the Radical Left that it would actually kill a bill to help human trafficking victims just to be able to use your tax dollars to start funding someone else’s abortion.

The scary thing is, the Republicans are actually considering surrendering to their demands!

Don’t let the GOP surrender! Demand that Congress renew the ban on taxpayer-funded abortions!

Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, everyone should agree that taxpayer money shouldn’t be spent on providing abortions.

This proposed renewal wouldn’t change a thing. It would simply renew a law that has been on the books for almost four decades.

And the truth is, this language has been in the bill since January. The Democrats, however, are claiming that the Hyde Amendment was sneakily added to the bill at the last minute, even though it was published for the world to see in mid-January. They just hadn’t read the bill until now. In case anyone had doubts that Congress doesn’t read bills, this is it.

But what is even worse is the fact that what used to be a bipartisan opposition to federally funded abortions has now become a rallying cry for the Democrat Party. That is how far left the Democrats have moved...

It is up to you to make sure that the GOP doesn’t surrender here like they did against Obama’s amnesty. John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are going to say there is plenty of time to attach the amendment to other bills, but that isn’t good enough.

We need to take our stand NOW!

These politicians need to understand that the American people didn’t put the GOP in power just so they could allow a four-decade old ban on federally funded abortions to lapse. We put conservatives in power because we want conservative governance and that starts with holding the line on banning federally-funded abortions!

Protect the unborn! Demand that Congress extend the ban on taxpayer-funded abortions!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
