The title says it all: The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty is, unfortunately back with a vengeance…
It takes 50 countries to ratify a U.N. treaty before it is entered into force and the Arms Trade Treaty just hit that milestone.
I truly expected that the Arms Trade Treaty would be relegated to the ash heap of history where it belongs, especially given the fact that most of the world’s superpowers – including some of the biggest arms producing countries – have refused to ratify it.
The Senate shot the treaty down but Barack Obama had John Kerry sign it any with a promise to do everything in his power to aid in its implementation.
It takes a super-majority in the Senate to ratify a treaty turn it into U.S. law. Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution gives the President the “Power, by and with Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur.” Obama knows he simply doesn’t have the votes to get the Arms Treaty ratified. But when has that pesky Constitution ever stopped King Obama from doing what he wants?
However, now that 50 countries have officially ratified the Arms Trade Treaty, the United Nations has the authority to begin enforcing it. The goal is to make civilian disarmament an ‘international norm’ that all countries are mandated to obey.
Obama might not have the constitutional authority to ratify the treaty on his own, but he has pledged to lend the United States’ complete support to the United Nations’ disarmament program! This is unconstitutional, un-American, and without a doubt IMPEACHABLE!
The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty’s goal is to regulate and eliminate civilian arms. “The need for the ATT remains abundantly clear,” U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon declared, “deadly weaponry continues to find its way into irresponsible hands.”
This is what has Democrats so excited…
The purpose of the treaty is to prevent ‘bad people’ from getting their hands on firearms and other weapons. I know what you’re thinking… ‘Bad people’ is not the official term. However, the treaty is so subjective that there really isn’t any clear definition of who should be disarmed.
The United Nations, specifically the Disarmament Commission, believes it has the power to pick-and-choose which civilians are worthy of firearm ownership.
Yes, there are obviously terrorist groups in the Middle East and Africa that should be barred from purchasing weapons… but what happens if the U.N. turns its gaze on us?
What happens if WE are deemed to be too dangerous for firearm ownership? It’s not that far-fetched of an idea… Heck, Congressional Democrats already believe it!
Could this ever happen? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that the United Nations was caught meddling in our affairs and trying to subvert our Constitution. To this day, the U.N. is still trying to reclassify illegal aliens as refugees to help them gain asylum in our country…
I don’t think that the U.N. can disarm Americans on its own. But it is important to remember that the United Nations isn’t alone… they have Barack Hussein Obama as an ally.
When Pres. Obama was touring Europe earlier this year, he promised his European counterparts that his administration would do everything in its power to “promote the entry into force of the Arms Trade Treaty in 2014.” The President knows that he doesn’t have the votes in Congress so he is going to work with the U.N. on his own to enact this horrible treaty.
We are just weeks away from the U.N. Arms Treaty being enforced around the globe.
American gun owners and second amendment enthusiasts cannot afford to have Barack Obama team up with the United Nations to enforce this horrible treaty.
It really is this simple. Obama does not have the constitutional authority to enact or help implement the globalist gun control agenda without the Senate’s permission. Now that the Treaty is entering into force, if Obama so much as lifts a finger to help implement it, he must be removed from office immediately!
