In case you missed it, Obama has now released over 120 terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay Prison. Many are now free men and many have rejoined the fight against American soldiers in Afghanistan. Others have joined ISIS. With the prospect of Congress banning these prisoner transfers, the President is working as fast as he can to put our enemies back on the battlefield.
Just this week, six more terrorists were sent home. Not to another maximum security prison… but to a third-world prison which nearly guarantees escape.
Well, not exactly home. All six terrorists are from Yemen. The Obama administration is sending them to Oman, which is a country right next door. There, they will sit in a third-world prison until their terrorist allies break them out of prison.
All six were labeled as having a high risk of returning to fight against the US and our allies. Three of them were Osama bin Laden’s bodyguards and one was a spiritual advisor. The DOJ confirmed that if given the opportunity, all would likely take up arms against America again.
Obama just let them go.
Right now, Congress is negotiating and voting on a number of spending bills. This week, the Defense Authorization bill is coming up for a final vote. It includes a provision to end these prison releases once and for all.
But the vote is going to be close. We’re going to need all the help we can get!
This year’s defense appropriations bill is loaded with Conservative 'goodies.' For example, there is an amendment that will let American citizens buy surplus military pistols from the government through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
Well, the legislation also defunds Obama’s plan to close Gitmo. Not one cent of taxpayer money would go towards transferring prisoners out of Guantanamo Bay. It would halt the release program permanently.
We all remember when the Obama administration traded five high-ranking Taliban fighters in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, a soldier currently being tried for desertion. The administration believed that they would be able to ‘turn’ the terrorists and make them double agents. It was only after they were released that we learned the plan was a complete failure. The Obama administration has been playing catch-up ever since.
Obama’s National Security Council Spokesperson came out and announced the releases as an example of how the President is taking “all possible steps to reduce the detainee population at Guantanamo and to close the detention facility in a responsible manner.”
Responsible? How is transferring these terrorists to third-world prisons and practically ensuring their escape in any way “responsible?” How is it "responsible" to ignore the fact that 30% of released terrorists rejoin the fight?
The only “responsible” thing to do is to stop these prisoner transfers before any more of them make it back to the battlefield and kill our soldiers. That is the threat we face and the President doesn’t seem the least bit worried about it.
This legislation to stop this has already passed the House. Now it is on to the Senate. If it passes, Obama will have no choice but to sign it. Otherwise, the military would lose all its funding.
Last June, Congress threatened to impeach Barack Hussein Obama if he continued to release terrorists without Congressional approval. It's time to collect on that promise!
Take your stand! Demand that Congress stop all Guantanamo Prison bay transfers immediately!
