Fellow American,
Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi has been imprisoned in Mexico now for SIX MONTHS! He was just dragged back into court and, once again, the judge ordered the Marine veteran back to jail…
It seems like only yesterday that the distinguished Marine veteran was arrested for accidentally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border while in possession of legally purchased firearms.
Since he was arrested, Sgt. Tahmooressi has had his rights violated by Mexican officials, been tormented and beaten by fellow inmates, had his throat slashed, and suffered being chained naked to a bed to the point where he couldn’t physically stand up once his restraints were taken off…
To top it all off, Sgt. Tahmooressi has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the Mexican prison system is unable and unwilling to provide treatment for his condition!
There’s no excuse for why this brave and distinguished war veteran is still suffering in a Mexican prison!
The only reason he remains in prison is that the United States government has refused to pressure Mexico to release him! And the only reason that the government remains silent on this is because WE have not raised our voices enough and demanded his release!
It is getting to the point where Sgt. Tahmooressi’s health is now in jeopardy…
He has not received adequate treatment for his PTSD and he is suffering as a result. His mother has come out and explained that even though Sgt. Tahmooressi’s lawyers are confident, he has become even more despondent and hopeless about his fate…
He needs to be home with his family where he can receive the care and support that he needs.
What is absolutely depressing is that the U.S. government continues to ignore his plight. All it takes is one phone call from the President and this brave Marine would be released.
But that won’t happen… The President has proven that he just doesn’t care about this Marine’s plight. If he did, he would have commented publicly by now…
The truth is that Sgt. Tahmooressi’s case just doesn’t fit the administration’s gun control narrative.
Back in 2009, Hillary Clinton made the claim that 90% of crime guns in Mexico are smuggled in from the United States.
This statistic is a complete LIE. The truth is that 90% of Mexican guns that are traced turn out to be from the United States. The only guns that are traced are those that clearly have an American origin (meaning guns with serial numbers). All these stats tell us is that 90% of suspected American guns turn out, as suspected, to be from the United States!
This is the Obama administration’s narrative. Democrats have been pushing this misleading statistic for years and this served as the basis for the ATF and DOJ launching the botched Operation Fast and Furious!
Pressuring Mexico to release Sgt. Tahmooressi would go against the administration’s agenda and narrative. As far as liberals are concerned, the Sergeant’s case proves just how easy it is for guns to be smuggled across the border.
It’s time to take this out of the Obama administration’s hands! It’s time for Congress to put on its big-boy pants and start hitting Mexico where it hurts!
This man served his country honorably and with distinction. Sgt. Tahmooressi is a true hero who has been diagnosed with a mental disorder resulting from his deployments.
He made an honest mistake and does not deserve what has happened to him.
With the exception of a few Congressmen who have taken up Tahmooressi’s case, the United States Congress has been largely silent on this matter. Yesterday, however, the House of Representatives held a public hearing on Sgt. Tahmooressi’s ongoing imprisonment.
Now is the time when we MUST pressure Congress to do everything in its power to force Mexico to release this distinguished war veteran!
Trade sanctions, cutting off military/law enforcement aid, stopping all joint exercises… even a sternly worded letter would be better than what Congress is doing now (which is nothing…).
You – a United States taxpayer – have given Mexico millions of dollars to “fix” its judicial system. Does it look fixed to you? Is Sgt. Tahmooressi receiving justice? No!
And this is how America’s generosity repaid? By punishing a U.S. Marine for making an honest mistake?
It’s time to cancel all aid to Mexico! It’s time to turn up the heat on Mexican diplomats living in the United States! Whatever it takes to get this brave veteran released, it must be done NOW!
And the only way that will happen is if you DEMAND that Congress take up the cause! I’m not talking about asking nicely… nor am I asking you to say “pretty please…”
Members of Congress need to understand that the American people DEMAND that this Marine Sergeant be released. If these Congressmen and Senators don’t do everything within their power to secure it, We the People will replace them!
Please take the time to demand that Congress FORCE Mexico to release Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi by any means necessary!
