The Constitution gives the Congress – specifically the United States Senate – the authority to ratify international treaties. If the Senate doesn’t approve of the treaty with a two-thirds majority, then the treaty is dead.
This is especially important for the negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
You see, Israeli Officials have leaked to the press that Obama has already caved into 80% of Iran’s nuclear demands.
Congress is saying “whoa, not so fast” and demanding that they have a say in the process.
If Obama goes through the official process and creates a nuclear treaty with Iran, then the Senate would ultimately have a say. But word is that Obama will NOT follow the constitution and instead draft an international agreement with Iran.
In that case, Congress would have absolutely no say. Obama could give Iran everything that they want and Congress would be powerless to stop him.
So, the GOP Congress is taking preemptive steps. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Bob Corker (R-TN) are introducing a bill to stop Obama from acting unilaterally on the Iran nuclear deal.
This is important! It is the only thing standing between King Obama and a nuclear Iran!
Obama fancies himself a king. How else could you explain the fact that he believes he alone has the right to shape our foreign policy?
Congress is still drafting new sanctions in case the nuclear talks break down, but right now, it is simple: anything that Obama agrees to must be approved by Congress.
Elections have consequences. Even though Obama coined that phrase in 2009, he seems to have forgotten what it means. He doesn’t seem to understand that Republicans control the entire Congress and he can’t just issue veto threats like this.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Obama is weak. He is morally weak, mentally weak, spiritually weak, and physically weak.
He doesn’t have the strength or the desire to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power. If Iran is able to build a nuke, they will use it. They will use it against us or one of our allies.
Before you email me back and say, “give peace a chance,” this is exactly what the GOP wants.
We all want the negotiations and economic sanctions to be successful. No one wants to have to use military force against Iran. But that doesn’t mean that we should give Obama carte blanche to negotiate the settlement however he wants!
Sources have claimed that the Obama administration is already caving into Iran’s demands. If that is the case, then the President MUST be stopped!
You are more powerful than you think. You have the ability to force your Congressman and Senators to act.
While Obama represents his own interests, Congress represents YOUR interests!
Obama is not a king and he is not an emperor. The fact that there is a legitimate fear he will surrender to Iran is reason enough to demand Congressional involvement in the negotiation process.
But it is up to you. If you don’t demand that Congress reassert its authority, then this bill will go nowhere.
Stop Obama from surrendering to Iran’s nuclear program!
