Fellow Conservative,
On December 18, 2016, the Obama administration formally published a regulation naming Planned Parenthood as an essential health services provider.
What this regulation did was prohibit states and municipalities from ever trying to defund Planned Parenthood or other abortion providers.
Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress is allowed to undo any Executive Branch regulation within 60-days of its final publication. Since a sitting President is unlikely to undo his own executive order, this tends to only happen when a new President takes over.
Any previous regulation can be undone with a simple majority vote in the House and Senate. The Democrats can’t filibuster it.
Yesterday, the House Rules Committee sent a resolution to the House floor to demolish this Obama-era regulation. If it passes in both chambers, it will prevent any future President from enacting similar regulations ever again.
We are so close. Your activism has got us so far. But we are up against a hard deadline. This is the FINAL day that Congress can defund this anti-life regulation!
By repealing this regulation, states will once again be allowed to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. Considering that these organizations spend millions of dollars every year to get Leftist politicians elected, it makes no sense to steer taxpayer money their way.
First, we allow the states to defund Planned Parenthood. Then Congress will vote to defund them at the Federal level.
Since 2011, there have been 13 states that have defunded Planned Parenthood. At least a dozen other states are considering it.
The Obama administration undid all of this progress by pushing a last-minute regulation through just days before Trump took office.
The legislation is hitting the floor today. If it fails, then Obama’s anti-life regulation stays on the books.
But if you raise your voice right now and demand action, you can force Congress to take the first step towards defunding this butcher shop for good!
Sincerely,
Joe Otto
