President Trump issued a stern warning to Democrat mayors and governors yesterday.
"If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them."
If Democrats will not put down the riots, then Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807. This law allows the President to use active duty military to put down insurrection, civil disorder, and rebellion. It is the same law invoked by George H.W. Bush to respond to the Rodney King riots in 1992 in Los Angeles.
Democrats are furious and promising to block Trump from invoking this power. Let me say this again: Democrats are right now promising to protect the looters and rioters...
As I said, Trump derives the power to stop these riots from the Insurrection Act of 1807. Normally, the Posse Comitatus Act prohibits active duty military from performing a law enforcement role inside of the United States. That is why when Trump sent the military to the border last year, the soldiers weren't allowed to be the ones who arrested illegals.
But if the President invokes the Insurrection Act, then the military is allowed to operate on US soil to put down riots and insurrection.
Trump gave Democrat mayors and governors one last chance yesterday to protect their people. Some did, but others once again had their police stand down and allow Antifa and anarchists to destroy their cities.
And now as Trump prepares to take action himself, Democrats are rushing to try to block him. Since it is an act of Congress that gives the President the power to put down riots, then Congress would have the power to rescind that power.
When Trump invoked the National Emergencies Act to build the wall, Democrats forced a vote to rescind the order. They almost won. They got dozens of Republicans to flip, but came just a couple votes shy of rescinding Trump's National Emergency declaration.
But this time, Democrats are hopeful that they can get just a couple more GOPers to turn on Trump.
Nancy Pelosi is promising to stop the President by any means necessary. She is confident that she has the GOP votes to prevent Donald Trump from putting an end to the riots. Democrats are actually rallying to defend the rioters and looters...
The President is going to do everything in his power to keep Americans safe. But there are already GOP cowards lining up to stop him!
