This is it. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has come out with his long awaited gun control package that he is promising to push through Congress.

Normally, I would say that this unconstitutional legislation has no chance of getting by John Boehner or Mitch McConnell, but with their recent track record, I don’t think we can afford to assume anything.

We told you last week that this was coming. We also predicted that the proposed gun control would have done nothing to stop the Charleston church shooting. Bingo.

Sen. Schumer, largely pegged to replace Harry Reid as the Democrats’ leader in the Senate, is promising to push through new background check legislation, a ban on 30-round magazines, and new “mental health” requirements to purchase a firearm.

This is coming on the heels of last week’s news that Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) are planning on re-introducing their failed 2013 gun control package.

This isn’t a Democrat threat anymore. Republicans are getting on board, claiming that Congress needs to “do something,” even if that something is taking away your rights!

No more gun control. Stop Republicans and Democrats from passing any more gun control legislation!

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest came out and beat the same old dead horse: “You don’t need an assault weapon to go hunting, it certainly is not part of anybody’s family heritage or family tradition.”

Sound familiar? This is the same vitriol that the Left spewed leading up to the 2013 gun control push.

They say no one needs a semi-automatic firearm. Even though this technology is more than a hundred years old, with the AR-15 specifically being designed in the 1960s, we’re supposed to just accept that semi-automatic guns are just too advanced for us to handle.

They say no one needs to a magazine with more than ten rounds in it. They say that 10+ round magazines aren’t useful for self-defense, even though they specifically exempt law enforcement from this ban. Why? Because when the pressure is on, every shot counts.

The Left wants to impose new mental health requirements. If you go to see a therapist after a death in the family, they want to be able to label you as a prohibited person. If you take pills to help you sleep that just happen to help fight depression, they want to be able to label you as a prohibited person. This actually happened in New York. A man was prescribed an anti-depressant to help with his insomnia and because of this prescription, he was automatically stripped of his gun rights.

This isn’t about stopping the mentally ill or the criminal elements. These people will find a way to commit mass atrocities anyway. This is about lowering the bar to take guns away from even more law-abiding Americans. And that is unacceptable.

Tell Congress they have no right to define how you defend yourself and your family!
