Fellow Conservative,
Over the past few weeks, we have focused heavily on Hillary Clinton’s email-related crimes. That’s exactly what they are: crimes.
We have been pressuring Congress to force Hillary and the State Department to comply with the Congressional investigation. It’s working.
Last month, a Federal Judge ordered the State Department to expeditiously release Hillary Clinton’s emails to the public and Congressional investigators. Even with this order, they continue to drag their feet.
Congress has only received a handful of Hillary Clinton’s emails and public records requests have dragged on for years.
Well, now the GOP is using its most powerful weapon to force the State Dept. to comply: the power of the purse. The House Appropriations Committee has announced that it plans to withhold 15% of the State Department’s operational funds “until requirements related to proper management of Freedom of Information Act and electronic communications are met.”
Yet, as you read this, moderates and liberals are trying to weaken this language to let the State Department, and the Clintons, get away with slow-walking the investigation.
We can’t let that happen!
Not one step backwards! Don’t let Congress back down on holding the State Dept. accountable!
Not only is Congress moving forward with cutting the State Department’s funding, but the appropriations bill would also block the President from opening an embassy in Cuba and prevent the administration from releasing any more prisoners from Guantanamo Bay without Congressional approval.
The bill strengthens reporting requirements on Iran’s nuclear program and prevents tax dollars from being given to international organizations to finance abortions.
This is exactly what we have been waiting for. Finally, Congress is sticking it to the Obama administration where it hurts: the purse.
The law is written deliberately to make sure that embassy/consulate security is funded 100%, so there is nothing to worry about there. All essential functions would be funded, but the Obama administration wouldn’t be able to use its discretionary funds to push its radical agenda.
The bill is in its early stages and it couldn’t be more vulnerable. Democrats and so-called Republicans are attacking it from both sides. Not only are they trying to strip these amendments from the bill, but they are also trying to remove the funding block entirely!
That cannot be allowed to happen! We are so close to holding this administration accountable for its stall tactics!
Sincerely,
Joe Otto
