This is big news. Another Congressman just came out and co-sponsored House Resolution 451!
This is the resolution to get the Army to reinstate Sergeant 1st Class Charles Martland.
As it sits now, there are fifty-one co-sponsors for this resolution. Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) is the latest Congressman to sign on and this is a big addition. He chairs one of the House Armed Services Committee’s subcommittees.
This couldn’t have come at a better time. We have confirmed that the ruling on Sgt. Martland’s appeal will come no later than May 1.
The clock is running out. If we’re going to stop the administration from involuntarily discharging this American hero, it has to happen now!
Let me recap for people not familiar with Sgt. Martland’s appeal. The Special Forces Green Beret and 11-year veteran was discharged from the Army this year because he “pushed” a confessed child rapist in Afghanistan.
A local mother came up to his unit and begged them to do something about the local police commander who had kidnapped and raped her young son. After Army medical staff confirmed that the boy had been viciously raped, Martland and other went to confront the accused rapist.
When confronted, the Afghan laughed, admitted to everything, and dared the Americans to do something about it. He admitted to kidnapping the boy, chaining him to a bed, and raping him over a week and a half.
Charles Martland lost his cool and pushed the officer to the ground.
Fast-forward and now the Army is kicking this Bronze Star recipient out of the Army, all because he defended a young rape victim.
It really doesn’t get more shameful than this…
If Martland loses his appeal at the end of this month, we will continue to fight to have him reinstated. We will never turn our back on this man. But the surest path forward is to stop this ruling from coming down at all and the only way that could ever happen is through an act of Congress.
Every time that you FaxBlast Congress, more Congressmen co-sponsor H.Res. 451. We are making real progress, but we need to take this across the finish line now!
Sergeant Charles Martland is a decorated Green Beret. He was in the Special Forces. He devoted over 11-years of his life to defending the United States and its values and the American people gave him all of the training he needed to do that. He answered the call to serve and protect us. It's time for us to defend him.
House Resolution 451 has four common-sense points:
“(1) Members of the United States Armed Forces should not be punished for standing up to child rapists;
(2) Putting the interests of Afghan rapists ahead of American war heroes is a national disgrace;
(3) The Americans who should be punished are those who created and condone the immoral and reprehensible policy that encourages members of the Armed Forces to ignore child rape; and
(4) The Secretary of Defense should immediately order the reinstatement of Sergeant First Class Charles Martland as a member of the Army.”
I can’t imagine anyone who would oppose this resolution. If we can force a vote on it, it will pass!
But you need to get loud and demand it right now before it is too late!
This hero gave 11 years of his life to protect you. I am begging you, take just a few minutes right now to defend him.
