President Trump to GOP Cowards: 'Fund the wall or else I'm shutting down the government!'
President Trump went on offense this weekend. He gave the keynote address at the NRA's annual meeting, promising to defend the 2nd Amendment against all who seek to undo it.
But his most important statement of the weekend actually came in a much smaller venue. At an event in Ohio focusing on the economy, President Trump issued a stark warning: He will shut down the government if the GOP establishment doesn't fully authorize and fund a border wall.
"They don't want the wall, but we're going to get the wall, even if we have to think about closing up the country for a while."
President Trump made a similar demand last year, but just days before the government funding deadline. Democrats up and left town, meaning that the Republicans didn't have the votes to pass a new spending plan.
That is why President Trump is dropping the hammer now.
Congress must start moving the appropriations bills through committee next week. That means that the fight is now.
There's nothing particularly sexy about the Congressional appropriations process. The news shows don't devote segments to talking about how subcommittees vote on government funding bills.
And that is the point, really. The media doesn't cover it. The Establishment certainly doesn't want you to know what's going on behind the scenes.
Because then you'd have the power to do something about it.
But now you know. And with that knowledge comes an obligation to fight back!
We saw last week what happens without a border wall and fully funded border security. Members of the "caravan" scaled the fence in Southern California and waved the Honduras flag. That's the image at the top of this article. Let that sink in. These people are begging us to 'save them' from the horrible country they fled, and yet the first thing they do is break our immigration laws and wave the flag of their home country.
They are claiming to be seeking asylum. They claim that Honduras is too dangerous to go back to.
But refugees don't plant their country's flag when they get asylum. Think about that. One of the "migrants" scaled the border fence and started waving the Honduras flag in triumph. That's what conquering armies do.
The new border wall prototypes were tested by American Special Forces. They couldn't climb over them. They couldn't cut through them. We need the wall. We don't have a country without a secure border.
President Trump knows that. He also knows that the establishment has been stringing him along, promising that border wall funding will come next time, only to kick the can further down the road...
He just dropped the hammer on Congress. If they don't fund the border wall, he will shut down the government.
Now, he needs your help to make it happen!
This is about reminding Congress of who they work for and holding their feet to the fire.
Establishment Republicans think they work for the big businesses looking to hire illegals. Democrats believe they work for the illegal aliens themselves.
They're both wrong. They work for YOU!
The Founders gave Congress the power of the purse for a reason. They knew that when government programs needed to be funded or defunded, the People's House should be the one to decide. And to make sure that it reflected the will of the people, the Founding Fathers required Members of Congress to stand for re-election.
The only thing that the Cowards in Congress fear is you. President Trump knows this, so he's timing it perfectly. His government shutdown threat will come just weeks before the mid-term election. He is giving Republicans a choice: either honor their oaths and secure the border or run for re-election as a fraud.
Trump knows that a Republican majority is pointless if that majority doesn't vote for the Conservative agenda. So, he is forcing their hand.
But he can't do it without you. The only way this works is if Conservatives rise up and put the pressure on Congress demanding it!
My wife just gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy this past winter. When he grows up, he is going to ask me what I did to save this country and preserve what the Founders created for us.
Win or lose, I want my answer to be "everything I possibly could."
