Following swift backlash for his proclamation that the pandemic has run its course, Biden's team is once again trying to walk back statements from the so-called Commander-in-Chief.
The proclamation was made at the Detroit Auto Show which is back for the first time in three years since the start of the pandemic.
“The pandemic is over,” Biden told 60 Minutes. “We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lotta work on it. It’s– but the pandemic is over. if you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it."
According to the Daily Wire Monday, "Biden’s remarks generated widespread backlash on both sides of the political aisle, but for vastly different reasons. 'THE MANDATES MUST END. IMMEDIATELY. ALL OF THEM,' journalist Megyn Kelly tweeted. 'And if they don’t, new legal challenges must be filed ASAP.'”
The legal challenges have to do with Biden's recent Executive Order to forgive student loans.
“'President Biden’s declaration on 60 Minutes that the pandemic is over—which his administration also argued when ending Title 42 back in May—confirms the illegality of his attempt to transfer hundreds of billions of dollars of student debt to the taxpayer,' National Review writer Charles C.W. Cooke tweeted. 'Textually, the OLC’s interpretation of the 2003 HEROES Act was preposterous from top to bottom. But even if one were to cynically ignore all that, the lack of an emergency would render the whole thing moot. Biden just admitted on TV he’s breaking the law.'”
This is nothing new, of course. The administration has been lawless and governing illegitimately since Biden was inaugurated. The media rushed to clarify Biden's remarks, including Reuters:
"Health officials like White House COVID-19 response coordinator Ashish Jha have as recently as this month said 'the pandemic is not over,' but have acknowledged that there is a shift under way in its fight against the virus. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said last week that the 'end is in sight' for the pandemic, but still urged nations to maintain their vigilance."
The Washington Post rebuked Biden in a piece entitled, "No, President Biden, the pandemic is not over," and reminded its readers that medical tyranny is still to be expected.
"But before rushing out to the ticker-tape parade, sit down. The pandemic is still raging — in the sense that a dangerous virus is infecting, sickening and killing people, mutating to survive and haunting the globe. The pandemic has shifted — and normalcy has returned in many ways — but it is not over."
Apparently the Biden Administration has tired of issuing clarifying statements, so the media has assumed the role of Dementia Decoder Ring full time.
We will update this post with new developments or statements from the Biden Administration.
