This weekend, a California Appeals Court overturned the lone firearm conviction against Jose Ines Garcia-Zarate, the 5-time deported illegal alien who infamously shot and killed Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier back in 2015.
As you remember, Garcia-Zarate publicly admitted that he found a gun on the pier and was playfully aiming it at a nearby seal colony when he accidentally pulled the trigger and killed Kate Steinle.
But at trial, he decided to change his story. Instead of admitting to the killing, Garcia-Zarate and his lawyers claimed that he found the gun wrapped in a cloth and it accidentally misfired before he even knew what was happening. Even though the 7-time convicted felon admitted on camera to killing Steinle, the liberal judge refused to allow the prosecutors to use this confession tape at trial.
Without that key evidence, the jury acquitted the illegal alien of the murder charge but did convict him on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
But now, that conviction has been thrown out. Even though Garcia-Zarate admitted during a televised interview to knowing that it was a gun, and even admitted to deliberately pointing it at the seals and pretending to shoot them, the Appeals Court again refused to consider the confession. Instead, they believed the illegal alien's made up story and determined that he didn't hold the firearm for long enough to constitute "possession."
This illegal alien has been deported five times. He has been convicted of a felony SEVEN times. Right before he shot Kate Steinle, Garcia-Zarate was actually inside a California jail. But instead of turning him over to the Feds, San Francisco defiantly released him back into society before ICE agents could get there. He then proceeded to shoot and kill an innocent girl in broad daylight.
But these activist judges have determined that he did nothing wrong! Zarate is still being held on Federal weapons charges, but now those are in doubt as well!
Do you know what Kate Steinle's final words were? As she lay dying in her father's arms, she looked up at him and said, "Help me, dad." It is absolutely heartbreaking.
This never should have happened. San Francisco had this killer in their custody, but they released him because they wanted to protect him from deportation. And now, even after it has been proven that he killed an innocent woman, these activist judges are trying to set him free again!
This is obviously the most high-profile illegal alien murder ever. But the truth is that Americans all across this country are being victimized at the hands of illegal alien criminals every week.
Montgomery County, Maryland became a sanctuary county back in July. They now refuse to cooperate, in any way, with Federal immigration investigations. When they catch an illegal alien criminal, they release them instead of handing them over to be deported. ICE agents are not even allowed inside county jails anymore.
Illegal aliens know that no matter what they do, they are safe from deportation as long as they commit their crimes in this county.
The result is that in just the past month, SIX illegal alien criminals have been arrested for rape in Montgomery County alone. One of them was a Salvadoran illegal alien named Rodrigo A. Castro Montejo. He was arrested last month and charged with rape and assault. ICE requested that he be turned over so they could deport him, but the Maryland County decide to release him on bail instead. He has since disappeared and no one knows where he is.
Two of the other illegals were arrested and charged with raping an 11-year-old girl. Originally, the county was going to release them too. But after immense public pressure, the county officials caved and decided to hand them over to ICE when their rape case concludes.
All across this country, liberal states and cities are promising to stop President Trump from deporting illegal alien criminals. They don't care how many Americans are raped, killed, or victimized. They only care about sticking it to the President's immigration agenda. They care more about politics than keeping the American people safe.
But here is the really disgusting part. Every year, sanctuary cities and states collect tens of billions in Federal law enforcement and judiciary grants. They take the Federal doll ars, promising to use them to keep the American people safe, but then turn around and deliberately release illegal alien convicted criminals into society.
It doesn't have to be like this. Over the next 2-3 weeks, Congress must pass 12 appropriations bills to fund the Federal government through next year. If they do not pass these bills, then the government will shut down.
Included in that is the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill almost never gets any media coverage. But this is the legislation that determines how much Federal aid goes to sanctuary cities.
As it stands right now, the draft for next year's spending package would increase federal funding to sanctuary states and cities. The Democrats actually want to reward these sanctuary districts with YOUR taxd ollars.
But Conservatives are fighting back! They now have an amendment that would pull the plug on sanctuary cities, counties, and states once and for all!
It is called the Protecting American Lives Act. Written by Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), this simple legislation would outlaw sanctuary cities.
Any state or locality that refuses to turn illegal alien criminals over to ICE would immediately lose access to all Federal law enforcement funding. It would make it illegal for cities or states to punish law enforcement officers who cooperate with immigration agents and prohibit illegal aliens from suing local police for damages. But on top of all of that, the bill also incorporates elements of Kate's Law. Any illegal alien caught re-entering the United States would automatically face a mandatory prison sentence of five years. This one provision would save countless innocent lives.
Now, here is the best part. Because this bill focuses primarily on funding requirements, it is "germane" to the appropriations process. That means that under both the House and Senate rules, it is allowed to be attached to the upcoming spending package. The only question is whether Republicans have the courage to force it through!
It comes down to this. We have a chance to right these wrongs and make sure that no Americans are ever forced to suffer the way the Steinle family has...
Illegal alien repeat offenders would be locked away for 5-years instead of being immediately deported and cities, counties, and states that try to harbor these criminals would face real consequences.
If this bill had been in effect, Kate Steinle would still be alive. Hundreds of other Americans would still be alive.
Rep. Lance Gooden is leading the charge on this and he has gotten other conservatives to sign on as well. But they need your help right now to force this common sense bill through before the deadline!
Shut these sanctuary cities down!
