The votes are there to hold Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in Contempt of Congress and remove him from office. Articles of Impeachment were set to be formally introduced on Monday.
At the last minute, stepped in to block these articles from reaching the floor.
Yesterday morning, Ryan declared that a Contempt of Congress vote was no longer necessary because the DOJ was "coming into compliance" with Congress' demands. His statement was shocking because, well, it was a lie.
Mark Meadows, the Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, blasted back:
"We're still waiting on tens of thousands of documents that many of the people here today have been advocating for a long time. How long do we have to wait?"
The DOJ is deliberately stonewalling and refusing to hand over the subpoenaed documents. They're hoping that Democrats retake control of Congress and end the investigation into the DOJ and FBI's bias.
Rosenstein was caught not only withholding documents from Congress, but actually redacting them to hide smoking guns (like Peter Strzok's 'We'll stop him' text).
"If that is not a sufficient reason to move forward with impeachment..." Rep. Jim Jordan declared, "I do not know what is."
The evidence is all there. Congress subpoenaed tens of thousands of documents from the DOJ; documents that will prove, once and for all, that the Obama administration was spying on the Trump campaign and trying to take him down. Rod Rosenstein has flat out refused to hand them over.
Paul Ryan is literally doing everything he can to save this deep state traitor. He must be stopped!
The House of Representatives passed a resolution that set a July 6 deadline for Rosenstein to hand over all of the subpoenaed documents. That was 12 days ago.
Ryan is the one who demanded that the deadline be added. If House Conservatives had their way, that late-June vote would have been on Contempt of Congress charges. It was Ryan who demanded that Rosenstein be given more time.
Now, the Speaker of the House is extending the deadline indefinitely. He has declared that Rosenstein is now complying (even though he isn't) and refuses to let Impeachment move forward.
Since that July 6 deadline, the DOJ has only handed over a few hundred records. Tens of thousands remain unfulfilled.
Remember, these are documents that Congress has subpoenaed by name. Thanks to whistleblowers, Congress already knows that these records exist. Rod Rosenstein could hand them over right now, but he refuses to.
The groundwork has already been laid. The House voted 226-183 demanding that Rosenstein comply with the subpoenas by July 6, or else face the consequences. Now, Paul Ryan is rushing to neuter that resolution and let the DOJ off the hook.
No way!
Paul Ryan's days are literally numbered. As one of his last acts, he is protecting Rod Rosenstein and his deep state allies from facing the consequences for their crimes.
A single Contempt of Congress charge is punishable by a minimum of one month in prison. Every document that Rosenstein has altered or withheld counts as an individual charge. If he was actually prosecuted for this, he would face thousands of months behind bars.
Will Rosenstein face this prison time? No. The DOJ will not prosecute its own Deputy Attorney General.
But Congress can remove him from office.
Rosenstein's crimes are clear. Not only has he flagrantly defied Congressional subpoenas, but he is now under investigation for threatening House staffers as well. On top of that, Rosenstein has allowed the Mueller probe to jump the rails.
Paul Ryan refuses to let Rosenstein face impeachment. He is single handedly blocking the vote.
Are you going to let this happen? Or are you ready to take the fight to these deep state traitors?
Kick him out,
Joe Otto
