Breaking: Republican leaders are currently negotiating with Democrats over how many illegal alien convicted criminals should get amnesty and citizenship in the upcoming immigration bill.
The Trump White House is unveiling its 620-page border bill at the end of the week. The legislation will address things that both Republicans and Democrats agree need to be changed. For example, illegal alien convicted felons -- people who we know are criminals -- would no longer be released into American society. The bill also closes the asylum loopholes that tens of thousands of illegal aliens have been abusing every month.
It also addresses legal immigration by creating new guest worker programs and accepting more merit-based immigrants into the country. There is no wall funding, no sanctuary city crackdown, and no provision for Kate's Law. This is designed to be a bill that both parties can agree on.
But before the bill has even been publicly released, Nancy Pelosi has declared it dead on arrival. The Speaker's Office has told Republican Leaders that no immigration bill will get a vote unless it also grants amnesty and citizenship to millions of illegal aliens in the country. Pelosi is demanding that Trump's bill be attached to her own amnesty bill, the radical American Dream and Promise Act.
This should be an easy NO for Republicans. But instead of telling Pelosi to take a hike, GOPers are now negotiating over the amnesty provisions!
Why would Republicans do this? Many believe that they need to pass amnesty in order to save their careers. Quite simply, their corporate donors demand it. For decades, organizations like the Chamber of Commerce have used campaign donations as leverage to force Republicans to support their own open-border immigration agenda.
These donors want more access to cheaper labor. That is why they are demanding these legal immigration reforms, like a new guest worker program. But the Chamber of Commerce also wants mass amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens already in the country. They know that if Congress gives amnesty to the 11 million illegal aliens in the US, they will be able to hire and pay these illegals less than Americans... It really is despicable. But this is precisely why the GOP has abandoned its anti-Amnesty promises and started negotiating with the Left.
Pelosi's legislation, not surprisingly, is the most radical immigration bill ever introduced into Congress. Yes, it gives amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Yes, it would put them on a pathway to citizenship. We all expected the Left would demand that. What is absolutely shocking, however, is that these amnesty provisions also apply to illegal alien convicted criminals!
You read that right: the American Dream and Promise Act stipulates that illegal aliens are eligible for instant amnesty and a pathway to citizenship as long as they have not committed more than 2 misdemeanors. But the bill doesn't just stop there. If an illegal alien has been convicted of 3 or 4 misdemeanors, then he or she would go on probation for 5 or 10 years (respectively). If they can avoid another conviction in that time, then they would get amnesty and citizenship too.
This is insane. This would mean that an illegal alien could spend up to four combined years behind bars and still become eligible for citizenship. This includes illegals who have been convicted of violent misdemeanors like assault, domestic violence, and even manslaughter in some states.
But there is a much deeper problem. For decades, liberal prosecutors have been helping illegal alien criminals avoid deportation by letting them plead down from felonies to misdemeanors. Felony drug dealing charges get pled down to misdemeanor possession, felony identity theft gets lowered to misdemeanor possession of forged documents... Felony convictions can immediately trigger deportation proceedings, so liberal prosecutors reduce the charges prevent that.
This is why the Left has fought so hard to stop Trump's deportation raids. Their bill would turn these illegal alien criminals into citizens and Republicans are trying to figure out a way to give it to them!
The Democrat Party is holding our national security and public safety hostage to try to push their radical amnesty bill. They have turned their backs on the American people and decided to represent illegal aliens' interests instead...
Pelosi has given the GOP her demands: The Left is demanding that millions of illegal aliens receive amnesty and a pathway to citizenship, even if they have committed multiple violent crimes.
But what is even more disgusting is that the Republicans are willing to negotiate these provisions. The GOP is negotiating how many millions of illegal aliens should receive amnesty and citizenship and how many crimes they should be allowed to have committed to be eligible...
The answer should be ZERO!
