Breaking News: Paul Ryan has officially threatened to block ANY immigration executive order that Pres. Trump signs.
Yesterday, Pres. Trump made major news by announcing that the White House was working on an executive order to abolish birthright citizenship (also known as anchor babies).
The 14th Amendment reads that automatic citizenship will be granted to anyone who is born in the United States and "under the jurisdiction" of the Federal government. Pres. Trump's executive order will focus on that phrase "under the jurisdiction," clarifying that only people living legally in the United States would apply.
When this news broke, Paul Ryan was furious. He condemned even the thought of an immigration executive order, comparing Trump to Barack Obama and ordering the President to go through Congress for any immigration changes.
Paul Ryan had two years to take action on this. He squandered it. In that time, more than half a million illegal aliens gave birth to anchor babies in this country. That is the cost of the GOP's inaction.
But Ryan and the GOP aren't just terrified of having to do something on immigration. They're now promising to block any immigration executive order Trump puts out!
The birthright citizenship executive order was a shock. We were planning on Trump releasing an executive order to close the border and block the caravan from entering. But we learned yesterday morning that there are a number of immigration orders in the final stage before being released.
And Paul Ryan is promising to block all of them.
Do you see what is happening? This isn't about Congressional ineptitude anymore. Yes, Ryan refuses to bring any border security bills up for a vote. But he's also promising swift action if Trump tries to take any action on his own. The only thing the GOP wants is to preserve the status quo.
President Trump shouldn't have to be doing any of this. Congress had two years to get the job done. Now, thanks to their gross inaction, we are staring down not one... not two... but three caravans marching on the southern border.
The GOP is demanding that Trump just let them all in...
The President is doing everything he can, but now he's up against the activist judges, the Democrats, and the Republicans. He can't fight this alone. He needs your help!
Paul Ryan has spent the past two years dedicating himself to thwarting President Trump, and he isn't stopping now.
This is the fight of our time.
Will you allow the establishments of both parties to keep the border wide open and preserve things like birthright citizenship?
Or will you fight back and force Congress to put America first?
Sincerely,
Joe Otto
