Remember Lois Lerner? The IRS official who abused her power to stop Conservative organizations from being approved as non-profits?
Long before there were conspiracy theories about Russian election meddling, there was concrete evidence that the Obama administration intervened in the 2012 election. Lois Lerner blocked conservative organizations from receiving tax exempt status, thus preventing them from fully participating in the 2012 election.
She thought she got away with it. She and the Obama administration believed that she had avoided prosecution and walked off into the sunset to retire.
They were wrong.
Two Congressional leaders are now calling on the Department of Justice to re-open the Lerner case after new evidence came to light.
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady and Representative Peter Roskam are each calling on Jeff Sessions to reopen the criminal probe into Lois Lerner.
They need your help.
We all remember when Obama declared on national television that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" at the IRS. No surprise, after Obama made that determination, the DOJ announced it would not be prosecuting Lerner.
“It is clear that when the DOJ announced in October 2015 that it would not bring charges against Lois Lerner, the agency was following President Obama’s signal on how he wanted the investigation to be handled,” both congressmen said.
We saw this over and over during the Obama administration. President Obama would come out and declare that Eric Holder, Lois Lerner, or Hillary Clinton was innocent. Then - surprise, surprise - Obama appointees would come out and declare these criminals would not be prosecuted.
Even when new information came to light proving that officials at the IRS misled Congress and destroyed Lois Lerner evidence, the Obama administration refused to bring charges against her.
Loretta Lynch had already made up her mind. Lois Lerner was innocent and there was nothing that was going to change that.
These two Congressmen are demanding the criminal probe be reopened. But they aren't going to be able to do it on their own.
We need to get as many Congressmen and Senators as possible to sign onto this letter. And that can only happen if we rise up and DEMAND it!
We've been waiting years for this...
