The Left is furious. After half a year with Democrats in control of the House of Representatives, no gun control bills have been signed into law. Even after Trump agreed to sign a gun control bill last year, the Left wasn't able to put anything on his desk.
Now, Nancy Pelosi is teaming up with GOP traitors to push through a radical gun control bill. The package would completely change the background check laws in our country and set the stage for future confiscations.
In order for the Left to enact their gun control agenda, they need to know who owns guns. With that list, they would be able to one day carry out their gun ban and confiscation agenda.
Modern history has shown that every time a country has forced its citizens to register their guns, that registry was later used to carry out nationwide confiscations. We saw it in the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Venezuela, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most recently New Zealand.
The Democrats' plan is much more subtle. Instead of simply ordering all gun owners to register with the government, the Left wants to push through a universal background check bill to give the government this data.
If Democrats get a list of American gun owners, they will come after us. We need to stop this right now!
The background check system we have now is currently limited to purchases through licensed gun dealers. It works because dealers are required to record every serial number that comes through their doors. When you buy a gun from a gun store, the government isn't just checking your background. The FBI also makes sure that the gun you are buying is legal. And if that gun ever turns up in a crime, the FBI can check the records to see who was the gun's last known owner.
While many people believe that the background check system is all about the purchaser, the system only works if the government knows who is selling the gun too. The Left's new bill -- the Bipartisan Background Checks Act -- would require that a record be generated every time a firearm changes hands in this country. Those records would be saved and referenced when firearms turn up at crime scenes.
The Left is being honest here. They want this registry to be able to disarm people who should not have firearms. But what they aren't telling you is that their ultimate goal is to make sure that no one can own a gun!
But believe it or not, the gun control package actually gets worse. The Left is also tacking on the Enhanced Background Checks Act. This legislation would give the FBI the power to reject gun background checks, sometimes even indefinitely, without having to give a reason.
When the current Background Check law was negotiated in the 1990s, Democrats agreed to give the FBI just 3 days to process a background check. The vast majority of these NICS checks are completed in less than an hour. But if the FBI wants more time to look into someone's record, they only have 72 hours to do it.
The Left now wants to increase this to 10 business days. If the FBI blocks the sale, then the gun buyer would be able to appeal, but that appeal would also last 10 business days. Since the bill uses "business days" instead of "calendar days," this would practically allow the FBI to block a gun sale for an entire month.
And this is by design. When you fill out a background check form, it is only valid for a month. The reason for this is that there is no telling whether someone committed a crime after filling out the form. Since the background check application is only good for one month, and this bill would give the FBI the power to block a gun purchase for one month, the combination would mean that the government would have the power to simply block Americans from purchasing guns all together.
But it actually does get worse. The Enhanced Background Checks Act also redefines the term "prohibited person." Instead of the government having to prove someone is "mentally defective" -- defined as someone who is (1) a threat to themselves or others or (2) unable to care for their own affairs -- this bill loosens the language to allow the government to confiscate guns from anyone diagnosed with a mental illness, even they are completely harmless...
This is all by design. The first bill requires all Americans to ask the government for permission in order to buy a gun and the second bill would let the government block these purchases indefinitely.
And there are at least 8 Republicans in the House who are helping Pelosi get these bills signed into law!
The GOP traitors are Reps. Buchanan (FL), Diaz-Balart (FL), Mast (FL), Fitzpatrick (PA), Hurd (TX), King (NY), Smith (NJ), and Upton (MI). But those are only the GOPers who are willing to go on the record. There are at least two-times as many turncoats in the House and Senate who are privately helping the Left push this through.
The Left knows that if they can get these bills passed into law, they will be able to set the stage for future gun confiscations.
That is why they are fighting so hard for this.
But you need to fight ten-times as hard!
