Democrats just successfully blocked a Trump court nominee!
The Left knows they don't have the votes to block any of Pres. Trump's nominees outright. Their only move is to try to peel away Republican support.
In the Senate, the GOP holds a 51-49 majority, however that includes John McCain (who hasn't shown up for work in months while receiving treatment for brain cancer). Since McCain refuses to resign, that means there are really only 50 Republican votes in the Senate. If every Democrat votes together, that means that even just one GOP defection can doom a nomination.
If they can convince even one Republican to vote against a nominee, then the Left can win.
And that is just what happened. Trump nominated Ryan W. Bounds for the 9th Circuit. A current assistant US Attorney for the District of Oregon, Bounds is an experienced conservative who would have helped shift the 9th Circuit further right.
Democrats realized what a threat Bounds was, so they dedicated all of their resources to trying to destroy him. They uncovered opinion articles that Bounds had written for his college newspaper where he railed against the left's "victimhood" agenda.
The Left branded him a racist. Just minutes before he was set to be confirmed, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) pulled his support. Without enough votes to be confirmed, the White House was forced to pull the nomination.
They dug up decades-old school school newspaper articles where he criticized how leftists were always pushing a victim narrative. That was enough to convince the only Black GOP Senator to flip his vote.
The Democrats think they have their winning strategy not only to defeat Trump's appeals court nominees, but also Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh!
Democrats have just filed a motion requesting over one million pages of documents for Kavanaugh's judiciary hearing. That's right, they want a million documents. They basically want every single piece of paper he has ever touched. If they could, the Left would probably also want to dig through Kavanaugh's pre-school finger paintings. They're desperate.
The left knows what they are doing. If they succeed in getting all of these records, they can drag Kavauagh's confirmation fight on for months. Yes, potentially after the mid-term election and after the Supreme Court has started its fall session. And if they find a single inflammatory statement in those million documents, they could flip any of the "moderate Republicans" and doom the confirmation entirely.
McConnell has even admitted that Democrats can stall the nomination for months, saying that if they pull this trick, the confirmation vote would have to come in mid-November at the earliest.
He has the power to put a stop to this right now but as is always the case, McConnell is more interested in preserving the Senate rules than he is in preserving this country's Constitution. He could put an end to this right now, but he won't. He is going to keep the loopholes open to let the Democrats stall, or even block, Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Even a delay would be catastrophic. The Supreme Court is set to hold a conference in the Fall to decide which cases to hear. That will include deciding whether to hear key pro-life and second amendment cases. If Democrats can even just stall Kavanaugh's nomination even for a couple months, they can stop him from voting to hear these cases and keep a number of radical state-level abortion and gun control laws on the books.
And the GOP leadership is to cowardly to stop them.
It is up to you to put the fear back in these members of Congress!
Every week, we receive reports of cowardly Republicans moving even farther to the left. We hear reports of Democrats making progress to block even more of Trump's agenda and nominees.
We just saw the Left use a man's college newspaper article's to flip a Republican vote against him. Now, they want to introduce a million pages of documents into Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation process.
That would stall the confirmation for months, giving Democrats more time to either take back Congress or flip a single Republican vote.
We know their plan and we know how to stop it. But the GOP leadership refuses!
This is far too important to allow a handful of spineless politicians surrender like this. You MUST fight back!
