Breaking: This morning, President Trump instructed the State Department to cut Central American foreign aid and notified the Pentagon that the migrant caravan barreling towards the border constitutes a national emergency!
The migrant caravan continues to grow. As more and more people cross the border from Guatemala into Mexico, marcher's from this past spring's caravan -- who never left Mexico -- are joining up with the group as well.
This morning, the caravan is estimated to be upwards of nine thousand people and now stretches for two miles. It is a sea of people. Thousands more people just left Honduras in a second caravan after seeing that the Mexican police are letting the larger caravan continue on.
The caravan only walks when the cameras are out. That is when they drag out the flags and banners to make a political statement. Then, they hop into busses and into the back of pickup trucks to continue the journey north. If they drive non-stop, they will be here in hours. If they make frequent stops, they will be here in days.
The Mexican Police is now giving the caravan an escort. Instead of arresting the thousands of people who rushed into their country, the police cars are driving behind the caravan to protect them...
President Trump took to twitter to blast Mexico's inaction and officially put the US military on standby.
"Sadly, it looks like Mexico's police and military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and the Military that this is a National Emergency," Trump announced.
This comes on the heels of a warning issued by the Guatemalan government that they had arrested 100 ISIS-connected Syrians trying to sneak into these migrant caravans.
The President has also begun cutting foreign aid to these countries.
"Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S. We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them," Trump continued.
Paul Ryan himself ordered the President to stand down. He threatened there would be hell to pay if Trump followed through with these threats.
The GOP leadership wants to let the whole caravan in...
The President is practically all alone on this. Even members of Trump's own administration are trying to stop the border crackdown. Rumors are flying that Chief of Staff John Kelly is actively trying to stop the military from being mobilized to the border. He got into a shouting match with NatSec Advisor John Bolton two days ago over the caravan.
The Judiciary is ordering Trump to let the caravan in and demanding that anyone who is arrested be released into the United States until their immigration hearings are held (which are averaging year+ wait times). With the exception of a few firebrand Conservatives in Congress, the Legislature is refusing to do anything to help stop the caravan (and even threatening to loosen up the asylum laws after the election).
When President Trump first threatened to mobilize the military (not the National Guard, by the way, the Army and Marines), both Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell threatened to block the order. Under US law, a Congressional waiver is required before the military can ever be used as a law enforcement tool inside the United States. This was the focus of our campaign yesterday.
But the White House shot back in the last 24 hours and declared that this law, the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, only applies to law enforcement operations inside the border. The Trump administration has informed Congress that closing the border with the Military does not fall under the purview of this 140-year-old law.
Democrats are terrified. They are watching their poll numbers crumble. For months, they have been celebrating a "blue wave" that would help them take over Congress. But they popped the champagne too soon. On October 22, 2016, the pollsters estimated that Hillary Clinton had an 83% chance of winning the Presidency. I don't have to remind you how wrong those polls were...
Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have now ordered their caucus to "ignore" the migrant caravan. The caravan's organizers are hoping to swell their ranks to over twenty thousand people before they reach the border, and the Democrats are instead trying to pivot to fighting over Medicare. They know the caravan is a losing issue for them, and they're terrified of having to vote on border security right now.
The Left is begging the GOP to hold off on a border security vote right now.
Stop them!
President Trump is absolutely furious. He has alerted the military to prepare for mobilization and personally ordered the State Department to start cutting hundreds in millions in foreign aid.
But if these illegal aliens step even one foot into the United States, the Courts say that Trump has to let them stay.
The caravan knows this. That is why they are growing their numbers. In every village they pass through, hundreds of people join the caravan's ranks. Some are Mexican nationals, others are previously-deported illegal aliens from other countries, itching for a chance to get back into the US.
The pressure is working. We are already seeing Members of Congress starting to pressure the leadership to hold an immediate vote. The fact that Democrats are begging Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to hold off should tell you all you need to know...
The GOP leadership has always wanted to vote on an immigration package after the election. But they wanted to prioritize amnesty over border security. They wanted you to wait until you have given up all of your leverage so that they can stab you in the back once you're powerless.
The illegal alien caravan gives us the opportunity to force this issue right now. No amnesty... no immigration "reform"... Just full and immediate border security!
But the GOP isn't going to do this on its own. They've had two years to secure the border and every time there was an opportunity, Ryan and McConnell claimed the "timing wasn't right."
Right now, the timing is perfect. The Democrats are terrified of this issue. They know that if the vote was held today, dozens of Democrats would vote to fully secure the border.
The pressure is working. Now, it's time to finish this!
