On Thursday, we got word that a number of Republicans were going to oppose President Trump's Supreme Court Nominee.
First, there was Jeff Flake, who had promised to block all of Trump's judicial nominees until the President caved on trade and his Cuba policy. After our report came out, Flake clarified that he probably wouldn't vote against Trump's nominee. Don't believe it for one second. Flake alone is currently blocking 13 Appeals Court nominees from being confirmed. All because he wants to pitch a fit over trade and Cuba policy. And remember, it was Jeff Flake who fought to try to give Justice Scalia's seat away to Obama's nominee... He simply cannot be trusted.
Then, as we reported, there are Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). The left is pressuring these two hard to vote against Trump's nominee in order to protect Roe v. Wade from being overturned. Collins came out and said she would not support any Justice who would overturn the 1972 abortion ruling. She is trying to pressure Trump into nominating a liberal!
Even Lindsey Graham expressed doubt over whether he would be comfortable voting to confirm a pro-life Supreme Court Justice.
Meanwhile, Democrats are laughing all the way to the bank. The White House was putting pressure on vulnerable Democrats like Joe Manchin (WV), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), and Jon Tester (MT) to vote for his nominee or else face the conservative voters of their states. With Republicans running away from the pro-life issue, these Democrats aren't afraid of voting against a conservative nominee anymore.
President Trump will announce his nominee one week from tomorrow. We have Democrats in the Senate and House promising to filibuster, block, and stall everything if Trump nominates a conservative. Establishment Republicans are actually ordering the President to nominate another liberal and the vulnerable Democrats are hiding behind these cowards for cover.
Nothing is a given. The entire Left is mobilizing to block President Trump from adding another Conservative to the bench. We MUST fight back!
Right now, the razor-thin margin is just one vote. That is because John McCain has left Congress to spend time with family during his cancer battle. Since he refuses to resign, that means that there are just 50 Republicans in the Senate. Vice President Mike Pence can be the 51st vote, but if even one GOPer jumps ship, they can block any nominee.
We are also seeing Democrats mobilize in the House as well. While Congressmen don't get to vote on Supreme Court nominations, the Left is now promising to block any legislation from moving forward in Congress unless Trump appoints a pro-life judge.
The GOP is running as fast as they can from the pro-life issue. It is up to us to put the fear back into them and force them back. President Trump promised to appoint pro-life judges and now the Republicans are demanding he flip on that.
Listen: My wife and I welcomed a son this past January. I have always been pro-life, but it never really truly sunk-in until I had a child of my own. At every ultrasound, the nurse explained how my son was developing inside the womb. My wife got her last ultrasound at 22 weeks and I will never forget what the nurse told us.
"I just wanted to let you know that, while there are never any guarantees, your baby is now developed enough to possibly survive outside the womb is he comes early."
I live in Colorado, where there is no gestational limit on abortion. It is technically legal in Colorado for doctors to perform 3rd Trimester abortions. There are only four doctors in the country who will do it, and one lives in Colorado. People travel from all over to have this butcher terminate their pregnancies. The Supreme Court decided in 1972 that the point of viability should be 28 weeks, but the fact is that babies can now be born at 21-weeks gestation and survive. And yet, the GOP is now telling us that we just stand down on the abortion issue.
We're also seeing the Republicans swing on the 2nd Amendment. If Pres. Trump appoints a conservative to the Supreme Court, we will see a case in the next year or two that overturns the Left's state-level concealed carry bans. We're talking about restoring the 2nd Amendment to the 26% of Americans who live in blue states like California, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. And yet, the GOP can't seem to run away from the 2nd Amendment fast enough.
This Supreme Court nomination has the power to put this country back on a conservative path for decades to come. For years, we have talked about taking this country back. We have had some really big successes where you and other members of our community were able to pressure Congress into blocking tyranny and preserving liberty.
But all of that pales in comparison to this fight. We have a chance to create a reliably conservative Supreme Court for the first time since 1935. Yes, that means progress on the pro-life and 2nd Amendment fronts. But it is also so much more than that.
We have a chance to essentially abolish leftist judicial activism on the highest court for decades to come. And yet, we have cowards like Flake, Murkowski, and Collins willing to throw it all away!
We are now just days away from Trump announcing his nominee. Right now, behind the scenes, the GOP is trying to force Trump into nominating a "moderate." That's nothing but code for a liberal.
There are no do-overs or second chances on this. The entire Democratic machine is mobilizing to stop Trump from nominating or confirming a conservative and the GOP is starting to just roll over.
If you don't fight back on this and the GOP succeeds in moderating Trump's nominee, you will regret this for the rest of your life.
