Since Congress controls the purse strings, they can place restraints on the government. If Congress doesn't like a particular government policy, they can defund it. For the first time in almost a decade, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats finally get to control this process. And they are promising to roll back the Trump administration's greatest accomplishments... the victories that YOU fought for and helped make happen!
Every year, Congress must pass 12 spending bills to keep the government running. But these bills rarely get their own votes. Instead, they are lumped together to form omnibus or minibus bills.
The first minibus spending package comes to the floor for a vote THIS WEEK, most likely on Wednesday unless it gets pushed back. In addition to funding the Legislative Branch -- and the Democrat-GOP plan to give Congress a raise -- the legislation contains the funding bills for the Departments of Labor, Energy, Health and Human Services, State, and Defense.
Pelosi does this for a reason: it is a trap. By attaching all of these bills to the Department of Defense's funding, she thinks she can pressure Republicans into voting for the Left's radical amendments that are tucked away inside the bill. No Republican wants to go on record voting against military funding. Democrats use this to pack the bill full of pork and radical spending provisions.
Currently, this spending package sits at 667 pages long. That will change as more amendments are added and removed between now and the final vote.
We here at Conservative Daily are reading the entire package, and closely following the amendment process, so we can fight back against this bill. Every day this week, we will cover one part of the bill and explain why it is important for you to fight back against it.
Today, we are focusing on how this bill would restore funding to the United Nations' most radical programs!
Don't let Democrats restore funding to the United Nations' anti-American programs! Stand up and FORCE Congress to kill these horrible UN funding amendments before it is too late!
One of Trump's greatest victories of his term so far has been gutting the United Nations' budget and using those cuts to force the UN to reform. Congress is voting this week, however, to undo all of that progress and fund the UN above what Obama had approved.
(1) The bill restores funding to the radical UN Climate Treaty and blocks Pres. Trump from withdrawing from the agreement.
Next year is when President Trump is allowed to formally withdraw from the United Nations' climate treaty. You know, the one Obama signed without Congressional approval. The bill coming to the floor this week not only forces Trump keep funding this radical wealth redistribution scheme, but it also prohibits the administration from using any funds to withdraw from the agreement.
The bill states that "none of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act, or prior Acts making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs, may be used to provide formal notification under Article 28 of the Paris Agreement of the withdrawal of the United States from such Agreement."
When Obama signed the treaty, the Constitution mandated that he submit it to the Senate for ratification. He never did. Since the agreement is not ratified, President Trump has the power to officially withdraw next year. This one sentence tucked away in the bill stops that from happening by preventing the administration from formally notifying the UN of the withdrawal.
Obama signed this bill in complete disregard for the Constitution's treaty clause. But if this provisions passes, none of that would matter. The US would remain bound to the UN's radical treaty...
(2) Restores US funding to abortion organizations overseas.
One of the first executive orders that Trump signed after inauguration was to reinstate Ronald Reagan's Mexico City Policy. This order blocked all government agencies from funding organizations outside the United States that provide, promote, or refer abortions.
The bill Congress is voting on this week states that the government cannot block funding to overseas organizations "solely on the basis of health or medical services, including counseling and referral services, provided." Since abortion is legal in the United States, this clause forces the Trump administration to start funding abortions abroad. 55 million in funding would instantly go to the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the largest abortion promoter on earth.
Trump's 2017 executive order literally saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of babies around the globe. Of course, Pelosi's bill would undo it all...
(3) Repays all of the UN funding that Trump cut.
The legislation doesn't only restore the United Nations' funding levels, but it actually gives them all of the funding that Trump has cut over the last two years.
The bill states that the United Nations must receive all of the "amounts necessary to pay in full for fiscal years 2017 and 2018 the United States' share."
In other words, Trump's cuts -- totaling more than 478 million -- would be literally undone. It would be like they never even happened.
That is the Left's ultimate goal. Pres. Trump won on a promise to put America first. He has kept that promise, and this Democrat bill aims to undo all of it!
(4) UN agencies caught attacking our sovereignty would have their funding restored.
When Obama couldn't get his agenda through Congress, he turned to the UN to get it done. On top of the Climate Treaty, Obama also signed the UN's Arms Trade Treaty in an attempt to impose gun control on the US people. He signed onto the UN's Migration Pact, allowing UN officials to send refugees here to the United States without us vetting them first. UN officials literally used to help illegal aliens reach the United States, either by coaching them on how to apply for asylum or, in a few cases, actually flying them onto US soil.
Trump put a stop to all of this. But Pelosi's bill would restore the UN's funding and allow them to restart all of these defunded programs.
Every time the United Nations has ever received American funding, they have used it to attack our sovereignty and our allies. Congress funded the UN and then the United Nations turned around and tried to impose their radical agenda on you.
President Trump is the first President ever to take a stand and put a stop to this. But unless you take action right now, Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats, and a handful of Republicans are going to undo all of it.
You CANNOT let this happen!
